Blackness. Drifting. The world around me spun. I couldn't hear the screams anymore. I wondered where I was, the waves of the ocean were no longer pushing and pulling me around. I realized I could breathe, even though a few moments ago I had been drowning. I was floating in nothingness. Not falling, but not flying either. There was no sound, no light, I was alone in this abyss. Something caught my attention, though what it was I couldn't say, as if, in this endless dark I was somehow no longer alone, and something had sensed my presence. It didn't feel friendly. Like I was adrift on a raft being circled by sharks, I felt very alone, very small, and very vulnerable.
"What's this?" Came a voice, from all around me. "A mortal?" The voice was more of a low growl, deep and seething, and a low hiss of air indicated a breath was taken, a low snarl following.
Frightened as I was, I managed to find my voice. "Hello? Where am I?" I called.
Ignoring my question, the voice hissed as it continued, "No matter, I can throw you back to the material plane." Something moved. Something large. Impossibly huge. I suddenly felt the enormity of the deep crushing darkness and my mind spun as I struggled to comprehend.
"Wait-What-" I began, but before I could finish my sentence, it boomed "begone!" and the next thing I knew I was dropped on my butt in a bikini in the middle of what looked like a central plaza of some ren-faire town, surrounded by beings out of a fairy tale.
