Chapter 1 - Wanting peace

"What are you doing here?" Melissa said

"Umm, this is my house, you're my mo-"

"Didn't I tell you not to call me mom, I can't believe I gave birth to a useless child as you, ahh, Tim is the only son I have" she said and turned around to leave, of course she didn't forget to slam the door to my face.

This is how life has been for me. When I was born, I was the golden child, Lexi, being the kid who started walking at 4 months old, the first born son of the great Quints family. It all stopped when I couldn't read and write when other babies could, I became the laughing stock of others, at least I still had a bit of love from my parents, but, when I was 8 years old, my brother was born, Tim, he became the pride of the family, the little bit of love they had for me vanished, they wouldn't let me play with him, saying things like, " don't talk to him, so he doesn't become as useless as you", he got older and also started treating me like everyone did, it got to a point where I couldn't take it anymore and I yelled at him, worst mistake of my life, my parents made me kneel and beg for forgiveness, after that, they threw me out of their house, how could they throw a 15 year old out, how did I survive?, I stole and fought just to survive. At least, I finished middle school. Now, I'm 28, I managed to get myself a job as a helper to the manager of a big company. Sometimes I get paid, sometimes I don't, but I just keep trying, I refuse to believe that there is no place for me. Trust me, I have thought of suicide but I will not yield. Today is my birthday and I planned on celebrating it with my family, but obviously I do not have one. Now I'm walking down the road, thinking of something to do because I just got fired.

"Someone help, save that girl" I heard someone yell

"Whose child is that?"

"My baby!"

I looked towards where they were pointing and saw a 2-3 year old girl, standing and crying at the middle of the road, I didn't think twice, I ran and pushed her out of the way but I wasn't so lucky.

"At least I did something good, I can rest in peace now" I said as I sank deep into the darkness. No one knows how long it was, but I saw a bright light coming closer and closer, bringing warmth with it.

"Congratulations, it's a baby boy"
