as soon as dawn arrived we packed up and started to head out.
"where should we go first?" Jayden asked.
"well, we should go to the store. we need to get supplies and honestly I doubt anyone is going to be chilling in there" I said.
"alright, and after that?" sophie asked
"we should check your friends house" I said
"alright, well let's hear out" Jayden said. we walked to the nearest store and walked inside. weirdly enough the place wasn't damaged at all. no one was inside but it was still nice and clean.
"hello?" Sophie said
"no one's here" Jayden said. we walked around and grabbed a few drinks and bags of food. there was nothing else interesting except for a lighter and some matches. after that we headed out towards Sophie's friends house.
About an hour later we reached their house, but it was completely destroyed.
"We're is it?" Jayden asked.
"right here.." Sophie said as she pointed to it.
I hugged Sophie and looked at her.
"don't worry, I'm sure they're fine.." I said. honestly, it was a lie.
"hey, me and Adrian should go inside. but I think it's best if you stay here.." Jayden said calmly. I nodded and we started to walk through the rubble. I wasn't sure if we would find anything, but I wasn't sure if we wouldn't. and I didn't want Sophie to see that, especially if we found someones body. as we looked through, we only found fragments of the house, nothing particularly useful.
"nothing's here. we should leave.." I said.
"yeah. I think we should take a break. this can't be easy for Sophie." Jayden said. there was an awkward silence before I finally walked away. I looked at Sophie and saw that she was starting cry. I gently hugged her and told her that they would be alright, and we found nothing meaning they probably escaped. we decided to rest in the forest near the ruins.
