Chapter 29 - Chapter 13.1

"Mi Ao," exclaimed Kevin in shock, "did he take the wrong medicine?!"

Mi Ao was left dumbfounded, his jaw almost dropped in shock. He stared across the narrow yet fast-flowing Kela River at the strange and unreal sights on the other side.

The Kela River is not wide compared to other rivers, but the river's current was particularly strong during this season, producing countless dark eddies. This season is even more tidal.

The splashing water created a layer of fog above the river, sometimes thick and sometimes light, making everything on the other side appear hazy.

There appeared to be a cloud of pale brown smoke rising from the bottle, enshrouding the guards behind Mankao. There is also a low buzzing sound, like a bow and arrow shaking in the wind——

Wrong!

Kevin quickly realized that it was not smoke at all, but rather a swarm of flying insects. When clustered together, they appeared light like smoke, but when they dispersed, they were nearly impossible to see, perhaps due to their size or camouflage colors.

Mankao's guards, burly and tall soldiers, appeared to be significantly affected when the flying insects dispersed. Their limbs twisted and some completely froze, while others twitched fiercely. Even the highly trained vultures they rode on were disturbed.

Kevin's thoughts immediately went to the unimaginable possibility that the insects had somehow entered the soldiers' bodies.

Mankao frantically squeezed the bottle in his hand and yelled, "Go to the other side, catch them, or kill them!"

Without pause, Kevin ordered his cavalry to charge ahead.

"Go!"

However, before they could even turn their horses towards the other side, their enemies had already arrived.

The figures charging towards them were no longer human - the way they twisted their bodies and leaped across the Kela River with ease made them appear more like powerful whirlwinds than people.

"Shield Wall!" Oswald roared.

As Oswald roared for a shield wall to be assembled, The Wujin Iron Cavalry hammered their heavy shields into the ground, forming a huge metal wall of protection.

The skin bags that had been charging towards them were unable to break through the shield wall, hitting it instead with a resounding thud.

Further away, the skin peeled off the figures discovered these obstacles, to reveal sand particles spinning like snakes. The Wujin Iron Cavalry was disgusted by the sight, but it did not impact their actions.

Instead, they set up their bows and arrows and fired at the sand snakes.

If it could be shot in the heart... hitting them proved to be difficult due to their agile and unusual movements.

However, nobody was willing to surrender. Even the colossal beasts seized their longbows and lined up their arrows one after the other. Holding out for a little longer could eliminate these creatures. Turning around and fleeing would result in a bleak fate of passivity and misery.

The vaporous mist hovering over the Kela Chang River stalled the sand snakes, hindering their movements, but only for a brief moment.

"Fire!" The cavalry soldiers hollered in unison as the arrows rained down, significantly bolstering morale.

Several sand snakes were struck in the heart by the plethora of arrows, freezing instantaneously and crumpling into loose sand before cascading to the ground. Nevertheless, the merriment was short-lived, leading to more surprised exclamations.

The lifeless sand was assimilated into the living sand snakes as they fell, merging into their bodies and strengthening them even more.

The shield wall in the front row resonated and shook violently from the incessant assaults by the sand snakes.
