The high-pitched voice remains immobile for a while, lost in thought. After a lengthy pause, it murmurs once more, resembling a sigh, "Alright."
Kevin: "..." It sounds as if they derive pleasure from inflicting harm.
The footsteps of the shrill voice momentarily hesitate before finally approaching Kevin and the others. The dungeon corridor is not spacious, and it only takes a few steps to reach the prison door.
Kevin can sense the man reaching his hand through the door, with his fingers inching closer. Who knows what particular object the man holds in his hand?
Due to his sideways position, the man can only see the back of Kevin's head.
Relying on the perceived safety, Kevin cautiously opened his eyes, only to find Oswald with half-closed eyes, motionless behind him, fixated on the position of the cell door.
Kevin: "..."
Startled by the sudden turn of events, Kevin was unable to speak. He wondered if Oswald was too overwhelmed or simply failed to notice his presence.
Just as Kevin held his breath, Oswald's eyes abruptly opened and he sprung up like a leopard. Kevin immediately understood the situation, turning his head, only to be slapped across the face. The sound of a crisp slap echoed as Kevin's hand connected with Jian Sheng's wrist, causing his fingers to loosen their grip and a glass bottle to drop to the ground.
Simultaneously, Oswald had already made his way to the cell door and forcefully grabbed Screamer by the neck, twisting and pulling. With a loud crash, Screamer's head forcefully collided with the metal door rail, resulting in a profuse amount of blood.
Suddenly, a tall and slender figure emerged from the adjacent cell, sprinting towards them. The figure was dressed in a white linen robe resembling a shroud, clearly belonging to the Spirit Race.
The covered priest!
In this critical moment, Kevin did not forget the previous lesson. He recalled how the sand ghosts would perish upon contact, even piercing through heavily armored cavalry. Removing the long sword from Jian Sheng's waist, Kevin pushed him forward, causing him to collide with the charging priest.
Seizing the opportunity, Kevin swiftly raised his hand, striking the priest with a fast and ruthless sword thrust. Meanwhile, Oswald grabbed the glass bottle that had rolled onto the ground and shouted, "Get out of the way!"
In an instant, the priest's charge was interrupted by Oswald's loud exclamation. At the same time, Kevin's long sword penetrated the priest from behind, emerging from his chest, and ultimately impaling them both.
Bingo!
Years of encounters with sand ghosts had honed Kevin's ability to deliver fatal blows with a single strike. As the sword descended, he knew with certainty that he had pierced the heart of the Sand Ghost.
A shrill and hoarse trombone-like sound resonated, prompting Oswald to throw Kevin aside without a word. The pierced spirit priest's skin ruptured, scattering sand everywhere. However, the sand that flew toward Kevin and others was effectively blocked by Oswald's formidable body.
Thrown to a corner by Oswald and away from the cell door, Kevin watched as the screaming priest disintegrated into the sand on the ground.
The commotion in the dungeon would undoubtedly attract the attention of the guards outside the door. Knowing this, the two quickly rose to their feet, pounding the keyhole of the cell door several times before advancing to the next one, where they proceeded to break Mi Ao's cell door.
"Mi Ao, for God's sake! Wake up! Stop pretending to be dead!" Mi Ao leaped up, grabbed a metal rod, and vigorously poked at his ankle chain while pushing and shoving the three colossal orcs in the cell.
The clanging and scraping of metal armor filled the air as the guards approached from the other side of the corridor—clearly, they were arriving hastily!
To make matters worse, the noise was overwhelming.
Mi Ao, still poking at the keyhole, muttered under his breath, "..."
Oswald exclaimed, "Has that fool Sapir dispatched the entire city's troops to guard this prison?!"
Mi Ao, looking perplexed, responded, "What are the chances of me squeezing through a gas hole?"
Kevin chuckled and said, "Stop daydreaming."
