Baron's POV:
"Hey, Baron. Although I know you don't want to go to the Stan Pack, you don't have to look so gloomy." Arnold threw me a sandwich.
I took it, opened it three times, and ate the pitifully small sandwich. This made my stomach, slightly uncomfortable from hunger, feel a little better.
This long journey had made me feel bored, and today, as the journey was coming to an end, my boredom was at its peak. I didn't know if I had made the right decision coming to the Stan Pack to rediscuss the agreement we reached many years ago. It was so distracting to think about it that I would instead go and fight with any pack again than be so mentally comfortable like this.
However, this was something that my father had decided on when he was still alive. For the Moon Goddess' sake, I hoped this trip wouldn't be so bad.
"Don't worry. It won't be so bad. Although you've been complaining the entire journey, we still got here, right?" Alan sat beside me. He was my Beta, and we had fought side by side for many years, so we had a tacit understanding of each other.
"That's hard to say. I only hope to find a way for these two packs to get along." I sighed. My dissatisfaction was like bubbles that kept popping up.
Alan was a typical optimist. He still had unrealistic fantasies about our trip. "Perhaps our trip this time will be unexpectedly smooth. If you can find your fated mate, that would be great!"
I felt my forehead twitching. "I will never have anything to do with the Stan Pack's people! Anything! After we settle this, we will leave immediately. I don't want to stay here for another second."
"Are you still so grumpy today? Are you still having that dream?" Alan asked me with concern.
That dream... the image I didn't want to recall, subconsciously appeared in my mind again. Those pair of green eyes with tears in them seemed to contain the entire forest, and the tears kept flowing. That pair of eyes kept recurring in my dreams and tormenting me.
The lack of sleep at night made me more irritable than before. I knew it was wrong, but it was hard to control my emotions.
Alan stood up and waved at me. "There's still some time before we set off. Maybe you can take the opportunity to catch up on your sleep."
I dozed off for a while and quickly woke up. The closer I got to the Stan Pack, the more alert I became. Even the slightest movement woke me up. There was nothing I could do. A pack my father had protected with the lives of many excellent soldiers was genuinely worthless. I didn't believe it at all.
Even though this pack was just a tiny place that seemed worthless and was not worth losing so many young lives and blood protecting, my father had uncharacteristically made a pact with them. I couldn't help but wonder if there was anything unusual about their pack.
I would find out what was so unusual about them.
With this in mind, I couldn't sit still any longer. There was still a long time before our planned departure, so I spoke to Alan and set off on my own.
It wasn't my style to give the power of initiation to others. Let me see what was hidden in this small pack in advance. If anything was amiss, I could inform my packmen to escape.
The joy of moving ahead numbs my nerves. It was too late when I bumped into a passionate couple at the door. I was supposed to stand in the shadows and observe them, but the sweet scent from the girl made it impossible for me to suppress my desire. My desire peaked when I saw her kiss the man. I couldn't help but step out of my hiding spot.
Only then did I notice her scent. It was a scent I had never smelled before. It was like a mixture of roses, honey, sunshine, and other wonderful things. It was like a candy on the tip of my tongue. It was sweet enough to melt and make my teeth ache.
She was also sweeter than honey. Her beautiful green eyes were exactly the same as the ones in my dream. Her long dark brown hair was wrapped around her like seaweed. She was not very tall. In fact, she was very small. It made one want to put her in a pocket and take her away. However, some parts of her body were so well developed that one couldn't take their eyes off her.
Her male companion also noticed me. He was a man with brown hair. He looked like a warrior. However, from his awkward expression, he was obviously just an ordinary werewolf. He didn't have a strong physique or strong arms. Looking at his silly and easily angered appearance, he probably didn't even have a brain. He wasn't worthy of such a perfect girl.
He let out a muffled growl, warning me not to come near, and even provocatively kissed the girl's face in front of me. My body was strangely agitated.
"Mate! "
"You have to rush up and protect your mate like a man!" Todd shouted. He was my wolf. He always expressed my thoughts without a filter.
What? My mate is a she-wolf from Stan Pack?
This can't be happening!
A strong possessiveness took hold of me. My wolf is restless. I feel like I'm going to shift and tear that man apart and hold my mate in my arms!
Calm down!
I'm here to negotiate, not to fight.
And I don't even want a Stan Pack woman as my Luna!
Damn it!
