Chapter 5 - Mostly Clean England

*Three Years Later*

Despite three years having passed, Lycaon seemed to be the same age as he was when he had arrived on the distorted Earth. However, his body was clearly larger and stronger than before due to the years of killing monsters.

He had cleaned up most of England by now, and only Central London remained, he had not yet left England into Wales or Scotland, as he wanted to focus on one country at a time.

*Flashback Of Last Three Years*

In the past three years, Lycaon had been cleaning areas of monsters as quickly as he could. His level had risen quite a lot despite the levelling speed decreasing significantly over time. He had also acquired two more skills which he felt were good enough for him to take, but he had found many more that he did not want.

His third skill was found a year after he had cleared out his first city. He was near the very end of clearing the city he was in, and a new type of monster had finally appeared. It was a lion sized ant with an incredibly hard exoskeleton that, despite looking nothing like metal, Lycaon named the 'Metal Ant'.

It was not a hard battle for him, but it was incredibly annoying due to the hard exoskeleton that deflected all of his attacks that hit it. Not only did it deflect his sword, it also deflected King's attacks from his claws and teeth. Lycaon managed to defeat the Metal Ant by only aiming at the joints between its exoskeleton while King held it in place by biting its leg. This allowed Lycaon to finally start dealing damage to the monster and, bit by bit, it was cut into pieces.

Once it died, Lycaon waited to see if any glowing would start coming from the Ant, as most of the final monsters in the areas he had completed would provide potential skills. Just as he had expected, the Ant started to glow a dark red which symbolised that a skill ball was inside of it.

When he cut the underside of the Ant, he saw the ball and immediately pulled it out.

'The Skill Super-Human Has Been Found, This Skill Will Increase The User's Physical Abilities By 5X, And This Effect Scales With The User's Level. The Rank Of This Skill Can Be Increased By The User Using Their Body, But Combat Situations Are The Most Efficient. Would You Like To Use One Of Your Skill Slots For This Skill?

Accept / Deny.'

After thinking it over for a few seconds, Lycaon came to the conclusion that the skill would be very powerful, especially as his level increased as the effect would multiply the strength of his body by his base strength at any level. Not only this, but the multiplier will increase with the rank of the skill increasing, which is even better as he would have taken it even if it stayed at 5X.

He clicked accept, and immediately felt the effect of the skill as his body was obviously becoming stronger than it had been before. This skill gave him even more confidence than he already had for being able to clean the entire world, no matter how long it took him. He already had a bit of an ego boost as he had not died since the first time, and felt that he was doing very well.

However, a year later, by the time he was about to find his fourth skill, this confidence had not diminished, but was definitely not as high as it had been previously. This was due to a sudden increase in difficulty that had happened around six months before. A multitude of new monsters started appearing that were much stronger than the ones he had previously faced.

This was not due to them being physically stronger, but instead, they had weapons and magic. Skeletons with swords and small amounts of armour had started to appear, which meant that they had ways of defending themselves from further distances than with just their hands, but it was still close combat which Lycaon was getting quite good at. These monsters did not pose a large threat to him, the ones that did however, were the skeleton archers and even more so, the skeleton mages.

This was because these two types of monsters could attack from afar, which Lycaon and King had no way of defending against except getting closer to them and easily killing them with his sword and King's physical attacks.

These two types of monsters single handedly killed him a total of 13 times, however they stopped being such a big problem when obtained his fourth skill.

He was in an incredibly difficult and intense fight with a large skeleton mage which was more similar to a lich, which is what he named them. It was the final monster of the area he was in and was continuously firing fire, ice, and lightning balls at him without a break. This meant he could not even summon King to help him, as he had no way of attacking the enemy from afar either. These magic attacks were all being skilfully deflected by Lycaon's sword, and he was slowly moving forward every so often even if it was not by a lot.

Eventually, he got close enough to the lich to the point where he could finally retaliate, and he opted to throw his sword straight through the Lich's head. This caused it to explode, and to make sure it was dead, he un-conjured and re-conjured his sword and split its body in half as well.

Once the Lich was dead, Lycaon was happy to see a light pink glow emanating from its body. He picked up the skill ball that was encased in the monster's ribcage, and a message appeared.

'The Skill Barrier Has Been Found, This Skill Will Allow The User To Create A Barrier Whenever They Want To. This Barrier Can Protect The User From Physical And Magical Attacks. The Strength Of The Barrier Increases With Rank. Would You Like To Use One Of Your Skill Slots For This Skill?

Accept / Deny.'

As this skill would be incredibly helpful for Lycaon against magical attacks and long range attacks, he clicked accept straight away and immediately said, "Barrier."

This caused an almost invisible barrier to form in front of him which he could change the location of by just thinking about it. This gave him confidence yet again, as his biggest weakness could easily be covered with this skill.

*End Of Flashback*

As he planned on clearing London of monsters in one go, Lycaon checked his status before he started.

Name: Lycaon Oberon

Age: 16

Species: Human

Death Count: 14

Star:

Level: 96

Skill Slots (16):

Conjure Sword (Basic. 98%)

Summon Behemoth (Baby. 96/100)

Super-Human (Basic. 99%)

Barrier (Basic. 87%)

He knew that multiple of his skills would become the next rank after he finished cleaning London of monsters, and he hoped that his level would at least become 100 so King could become stronger as well as himself.

Lycaon stood confidently with sword in hand, and shouted as loud as he could to gain the attention of all of the monsters in the surrounding area. Almost straight after this, a large amount of footsteps caused by monsters started to becoming increasingly closer to Lycaon's location.
