Chereads / Build a Drug Empire / Chapter 48 - Inevitable

Chapter 48 - Inevitable

"You are wrong. They will kill you," insisted Boban, but no one backed up his words.

From the back, Kopra was now in his half-transformation state. The poison already took a very hard toll on his body and he could no longer keep the full T-rex form.

Soon, Kopra turned back to his human form and he even looked skinnier and more shriveled like he had aged years. His legs turned to jelly, and he fell on his knees, unable to resist the poison with just his will.

The other Miracled were even less fortunate. The barbaric woman was the first to lie down and lose all control of her body. She only wore minimal clothes for mobility, but it became a liability in this situation.

Her exposed skin absorbed more poison.

The same could be said with the man with many eyes. His biggest strength, his numerous eyes, became his vulnerability as the powder infected the eyes along his arms and spread directly to his brain.

The goth-man lasted the longest out of all of them. With a cloak of shadow protecting his body, he did not get affected much by the poison, yet.

But he could not keep this up any longer. He had to stay still and concentrate on keeping up his power or else he would be completely vulnerable to the poison.

The goth-man could feel his power slipping from his body, but he still held on. But no matter what he did, he would only delay the obvious fact; he's dying.

The Capo gang was already on their deathbed the moment they were infected with the poison. That was inevitable. They fought Caesar only for the sake of their pride, and they couldn't even do that.

"This…How could this happen?!" Boban denied. He, himself, was already in the throes of death, and only his hatred for Caesar kept him alive all this time.

"Believe it or not. The truth still remains the same."

Boban fell to the floor, but his eyes were kept stuck looking up at Caesar. "You will never see my money. It's on its way now to the black market!"

When Boban planned to relocate his money, he knew that he needed a place that could safely hide his money from any harm. If he learned anything from Caesar, it was that he should always do everything you can to safeguard your money.

He knew that he couldn't just keep them all in the bank. He had numerous dealings with shady business and he evaded paying taxes, so he knew that the government would only confiscate his money.

So, he turned towards the black market. They are a neutral third party that would not betray him or they would risk their reputation from dropping.

Also, he was only a few steps away from being a VIP at the black market, which meant that they would accept his request with more seriousness.

"Oh, the black market? I have been there too. Want to see my card?"

Caesar had a grin on his face as he took out a shiny violet card that brandished the emblem of th black market. There was a small inscription at the bottom that said;

{VIP}

{Caesar}

Boban's eyes grew larger with shock, and his already large mouth became even larger as his jaw dropped. He knew how hard it was just to become a member of the black market. It wasn't until he proved his reputation that he was even able to enter it.

And it was thousands of times harder to become a VIP. This was not something given out willy-nilly. It was only reserved for a handful of people who proved their potential to the black market.

People who owned a VIP card were people who the black market deemed as a Whale, a person who was insanely rich, insanely powerful, and insanely connected.

How could Caesar become a VIP?!

"T–That's impossible!"

"For people like you, maybe. But I'm different. But don't worry, I won't sully my relationship with the black market just to steal your money."

Boban had a bad feeling, other than the poison. There was no way that Caesar would let go of his money just like that.

"But–"

Boban's heart fell to his stomach.

"But what if your money never got there? What if it's on its way to my pockets?"

Caesar's devilish smile was serious.

"No, that's not possible…"

"Let me ask you a question. What do you think is more addicting: money or Joy?"

Boban didn't know what to say.

"You asked me this question when we first met a few days ago, and you didn't let me answer. You said it was money, and now I'm going to prove to you that the true answer is; Joy!"

No, Boban screamed in his mind. He already got a sense of where Caesar was going. He subconsciously knew what had happened, but he couldn't bring himself to believe it.

"I did what you couldn't. I treated your bodyguard with a carrot while you only spanked them with the stick! I gave them all the Joy they wanted, and they willingly sold you out."

Boban thought back to the hidden glares he received from his bodyguards. They became more haughty these past few days, and he didn't think much of it. He only gave them more tortures to correct it.

"They told me that you were moving your treasures away from your mansion. I knew it from the start."

In hindsight, Boban should have seen it. He should have seen the inevitable backstab that was coming towards him. He thought his tortures helped him control his guards, but it only pushed them into temptation.

"Your bodyguards are now on their way to the black market. But they are not doing so under your name, it's under mine. All of your assets will be mine!"

Boban couldn't even think properly. Either it was from the poison, or from shock, or from disbelief, everything was too much for his brain to handle.

All of his hard work, all of his sacrifice, everything would go down right into the gullet of his worst enemy, Caesar. This kid, who he had only met a few days ago, toppled his life's work.

The worst part was that Boban couldn't take revenge. He was already dying.

"Don't die yet, I want to show you something," Caesar said, but Boban didn't have the will to look up. He didn't want to see what Caesar wanted him to see. He already lost, completely. And he didn't want to be further humiliated and reminded of his loss.

SPARK

But the sudden surge of electricity in the air surprised him. He could feel the buzzing in the air, and it felt like the air was filled with charge that zipped all around freely.

That was not the weirdest part. The weirdest part was that he could feel an immense Miracle power coming out of nowhere. As a Miracled, he could feel how strong a person was based on this. And it was strong. Stronger than anything he had ever felt.

And when he looked up, he saw Caesar clad in an armor of blue lightning. Electricity wrapped around him like chains and it obeyed his every move like he was their master.

This was not possible, he thought.

But Caesar's lighting-filled eyes looked down at him with pity, with ridicule.

Caesar was a Miracled. This revelation came to a complete surprise for Boban, much more than the fact that his bodyguards betrayed him.

How could it not be? He went into this plan with the assumption that Caesar was a lowly human. He thought that he could never be a Miracled as it required luck and a lot of financial backing.

The worst of all was that Caesar's Miracle power was strong. Even as a new Miracled, he knew that controlling lightning was one of the most sought-after powers with the most overbearing strength that could beat almost anyone.

But why did Caesar only show this power now? If he had shown his Miracle power when he confronted the Capo gang, he could have stood a better chance and he wouldn't be this injured.

He could have also escaped. With his lightning powers, he could have transformed himself into lighting and dashed away as fast as possible. No one in the Capo gang had the capabilities to chase after him, not even the shadows of goth-man.

"Why? Why only now?" Boban asked weakly.

Caesar bent down so that Boban could hear his answer clearly.

"It's because I wanted to show you that I beat you without power. I wanted to show you that even as a normal human, I can kill 6 Miracled if I wanted to."

Caesar stood up and looked at the Capo gang and addressed them as well. They were not moving, but they were still alive, albeit barely.

"Listen up. I want your last thought to be that your defeat was orchestrated entirely by me. I planned everything out. I didn't kill you Boban because I wanted your money. I didn't run because I wanted to take out the powerhouse of the Capo gang. I let myself be taken because I wanted to take out all of you at the same time."

Caesar's words were heard by every single one of them. They couldn't even cover their ears even if they wanted to.

"I didn't use my Miracle powers because I knew I could win without it. From the moment I planned it, the moment it became a fact. And now with the Capo gang's territory up for grabs and with millions of money at my disposal, I can finally build my drug into an empire."

Caesar's lighting powered up, like it was ready to explode.

"So when you go to the underworld, remember my name. Caesar!"

An explosion made of lightning burst throughout the room, electrifying the 6 Miracled in the ground. They were now dead, with all their organs burnt into ashes.
