Meanwhile, Ethan awoke in the hospital bed. Upon looking around, he noticed Fred was sitting on a chair. "Fred..." Ethan called him hoarsely. Ethan... you've woken up... Dr Fred said as he approached him. Listen, Ethan... I would suggest that you take some time to consider this... even if you wish to take revenge, it may not be the course of action for you to do so... You can get about it in more ways than one, and it's not worth doing such cheap things. "It's not you, Ethan... it's not you," he screamed calmly to himself.
Fred... I believe it would be better for you not to get involved with all this if you still want to hold on to your job. My decision about what I want to do with him is mine and you don't have to say anything about it. In a loud voice, Ethan replied. I understand, Ethan... you need to calm down... I won't say anything about it. Dr. Fred frowns in disbelief.
Liam knocks at the door as he approaches. "Come inside, Mr. Liam. I've prepared Ethan's discharge reports, and now that you're back, you can bring him home. Let's take care of his diet..." Dr. Fred repeated to Liam while nodding. As Liam took Ethan to the car, he made him sit comfortably as he returned to the office of Dr. Fred.
In a calm voice, Liam asks, "Dr. Fred.. can I have a moment with you...".
"What is it Mr Liam?...." Dr Fred asks. "If you are not busy, will you come to the house to check on Luca? I fear that his condition is more serious than we originally thought, and I would appreciate you coming." Liam said sadly.
He wonders, "I can, but what about Ethan? Will he agree to this?" He asked. He won't mind if you come directly to the house. And he isn't all that cruel to leave Luca like that. I know, and what he did was wrong. He did it out of frustration and anger... but it's not wrong if I say that he really loves the boy. He won't stop you from treating him... Liam replied tightly.
Okay... you ride with him... I'll get in my car... Dr. Fred said. Liam nodded and headed back.
"Where were you? Liam..." Ethan asks in a puzzled tone. Taking your medicines... Liam replies. As they drove back to the mansion, there was dead silence all along the way.
After some time, Dr. Fred came to the house.
"Why are you here?" Ethan asks. Fred, who was sitting on the sofa. "Ahh"... I came here to meet you, can't I? Dr. Fred replied, and Ethan glared at him.
It might be a good idea to check on the boy as well now that I am here... Dr. Fred asks. Ethan recalls he had left Luca in such a messy room.
As Ethan blabs, he slowly nods his head, "Ehmm... urn..." "Uhn...".
'Come with me, doctor. Let me show you the room,' Liam said to him as he led him to the room.
Ethan followed a silent trail of footsteps. He was worried, as he didn't know what the scene would be when the door opened. His mind was dizzy with the thoughts of Luca being in pain in that dirty room. As Liam opened the door, Ethan saw Luca lying on the bed, and the room was perfectly clean. Ethan knew it was Liam's work. Dr. Fred rushed to check Luca's body as soon as he noticed all those signs of bruises and marks on him. He also saw the blood that had dried up on the sheets. Ethan was staring at all this while standing in front of the door.
A few moments later, Dr. Fred moved his eyes into a smile as he watched Ethan's expression secretly. Even though Luca seemed to be awake, he did not move from the bed. When he checked him, he saw that his temperature was high, and he felt weak. Concerned about the boy, he needs to be taken to the hospital. Dr. Fred said as he observed Ethan's every expression. As he was about to carry Luca, Ethan held his hand and stopped him from doing so. I'll do it. As Ethan carried Luca's small body, he hurriedly made his way to the hospital.
Dr. Fred forced Ethan to keep Luca in the hospital until he recovered.
In the night, Ethan lay in bed inside his room and stared at the ceiling. He was not feeling sleepy at all. All the images of the past few hours were roaming around in his mind. He was trying to accept the situation and forget everything at the same time. But something inside him prevented him from doing that. His anger raged every time he remembered how Luca had taken advantage of him. As he remembered Dr Fred saying, "It's not you, Ethan," and even Ethan knew what he meant. He had never been like that before. He couldn't hurt anyone, and he was hurting the person he loved. How did he change so drastically? Why does his heart keep reminding him that what happened wasn't right? Ethan's heart felt guilty for doing so, but his mind was unbothered. Now it was up to Ethan to decide whether he would listen to his heart or his mind. A short time later, after much thought and reflection, he fell asleep.
As Luca wakes up the next morning, he sees he is in an unfamiliar room while scanning his surroundings. His head feels light and his hand is heavy. When he turned his head to look at his hand, they covered it with plaster and inserted a drip line in. Upon hearing someone entering the door, he sighed sadly. When he tilted his head to look at the person, he saw a doctor approaching.
Hello Luca, I'm Dr. Fred. I am glad you are feeling better now.
Thank you very much, Luca murmurs sadly.
Let me know when you feel pain or discomfort. Luca just nods.
After spending 3 days with Luca, Dr. Fred fell head over heels in love with him. Besides being ashamed to admit his feelings towards the boy, he was also afraid that Ethan would get him killed if he found out. He never expressed his feelings to Luca, but he cared deeply about him. He did everything in his power to make the boy smile and be happy with the small time he spent with him. Luca finally dropped his hands on his lap and pouted sadly with glassy eyes making Dr. Fred shocked.
What's wrong? Do you feel pain anywhere? He asks, looking concerned.
I'm okay. Do you think it is possible to let me go? Luca said, with tears streaming down his face.
You know I can't do that, right? The first thing Ethan would do to us would be to kill us. There was sadness in Dr. Fred's voice.
I know, Luca murmured softly. Fred couldn't help but ruffle Luca's hair, making him melt into the warmth. Try to sleep some more, Dr. Fred said, tucking Luca inside the blanket. Looking at Dr. Fred leaving the ward, Luca smiled sadly. His eyes were staring blankly at the ceiling. Although Dr. Fred was busy, he still looks forward to those few minutes with him. Even though Luca knew he was being selfish by expecting a certain amount of care, he could not control his actions. Ethan, who was standing outside, had noticed everything. He sauntered away, leaving Luca hugging himself to sleep.
3 days later, Ethan is wide awake, losing sleep over Luca Mason, who is still in the hospital. The light structure hanging overhead from his ceiling captivated his attention as he stared at it. There were a bunch of lightbulbs connected to wires that were intricately spread out over the place. It hadn't occurred to him to realise how enjoyable it was. There was a very specific light structure in the room that his mother designed in order for him to feel more comfortable at home. Ethan had never really felt that way until he remembered that the same light structure was in his bedroom when he was a kid. Why hadn't he noticed that before? Most likely because it never took this long for sleep to find him.
Suddenly, he felt an arm snake around his torso. She had an icy touch about her hand and it was enough to make him shudder in a not so pleasant way. After flinging her hand away, he told her to leave. "And why the fuck are you doing that?" she questioned.
"I am so tired of hearing your voice that I have a migraine just by hearing it... All you do is spend my money and hog all the sheets at night, and the sex isn't even that enjoyable," I replied. There were many emotions running through her mind, but anger remained..
"You piece of shit! You must be ashamed of yourself!" she shrieked at me as she threw the covers back and got out of bed. The lights that came on in my main bedroom temporarily blinded me as she threw open a Gucci bag and took things into it.
You think you can do whatever whenever all the goddamn time? She continued.
"Hold up, leave the bag". You can use a trash bag or one of those plain suitcases. This girl wasn't about to leave with an entire designer set, either. Rage flashed across her face. He thought that for a second she was planning to abandon all her clothes, but she grabbed them and walked away.
When he woke up in the morning, he had an overwhelming urge to throw up. He was thrown off his feet as soon as his eyes adjusted to the bright light that was blaring through the windows. Despite his best efforts, he barely made it to the bathroom before he violently vomited into the toilet. It was so violent that it brought tears to his eyes. His stomach did somersaults as he tried his best to control the dry cough. By far, this was the most severe hangover he had ever experienced. Memories of the previous night had flooded in, but they came in broken fragments that were ridiculously difficult to put together. His last solid memory was shutting the door loudly behind her as she left. Then he sat at the bar and drank. After he had finished drinking, he drove to the hospital to pick up Luca.
