Ethan travelled a week ago. My phone was constantly being called by Cindy, and I received tons of messages daily. Earlier today, she came to drag me out of the house.
It petrified me at the idea of walking through those doors as the first phase of our plan was to begin today. We agreed to do the laundry first. The letter and the flowers will have to wait until the day he returns so that they will be fresh. He gave Cindy the time of his arrival.
My heart pounded as I followed her to his home. As far as his combination was concerned, she was the only one who knew it. When I got to the elevator, I remember she said the tenth floor. The closer I got, the faster my heart raced. Do I really want to do this? Once I enter his apartment, there's no turning back.
What if something goes wrong? What if Ethan's home? With a shake of my head, I pushed my thoughts aside.
I used the combination Cindy told me, and there was a sudden clicking sound. Startling me a little, the door popped open. It smells like him. All of his belongings had his sweet, unique sandalwood scent.
A beautiful chandelier shines above it. On the walls are works of art, reflecting the aesthetic taste of the owner. The blue sofas are certainly unexpected considering the colour theme. They bring a certain uniqueness, making the interior more lively. They used stucco moulding on the ceiling to add a touch of elegance to the room.
I walked into the house and saw a door that showed the kitchen. The designers used natural colours: beige, green, and brown. They place a long dining table in the middle of it. Lighting is well thought out. Wouldn't you just love to prepare a meal in a room like this? I smiled as I thought of all the delicious food I could cook.
After entering the laundry room and seeing that there were a great deal of clothes on the laundry table, I separated the colours and washed them separately. While they were being washed, I walked back to the kitchen, where his fridge was full of vegetables and fruits. Someone is eating healthy. I laughed to myself as I stood in the kitchen.
When I called Cindy to come up, she had already left and said she had to meet up with a client. It took longer than I expected for the laundry to be done, but I did smoothly it. I asked Cindy if it was okay to come cook again. She chuckled. I'll help you cook was what she said before I ended the call.
I returned to Ethan's apartment a day before he arrived, prepared a substantial number of meals for him, and arranged them in the fridge. Cindy was disappointing me once again. She was out of town for a meeting. I wandered around after cooking, so I wandered to his bedroom to see what was up there. His bedroom is a little strange, there's a large mirror on the ceiling, a modern fireplace, a large screen TV, walk-in closets, impressive chandeliers, modern furniture, sustainable materials, custom fabrics, and his bathroom has a tub and walk-in shower.
It was tempting for me to take a shower, but I turned back to the bedroom. I crawled up in his bed and sniffed as much of his scent as I could while I was there. He smells like sandalwood, and it's intoxicating. I had the most pleasant dream during my nap. Then my phone started ringing, and it was Cindy.
Hello Cindy. How is your day so far?
Wait, what, don't tell me you are still sleeping? She exclaimed Ethan was at the airport and would be in his office in two hours.
Oh my gosh, I'll meet you in front of the restaurant, I yelled back. I quickly set up his bed, took off as quickly as possible and drove straight to his office right out of the building.
As soon as I parked in the parking lot, I heard Cindy's call come in. She told me to meet her in front of his office. And ended the call.
How does she expect me to know what floor his office is? The building is exquisite when I walk in. I asked the receptionist which floor I would find his office on and she replied, "The twenty-second floor". I entered the elevator feeling underdressed. Everyone looked prim and proper except for me, who wore a gray jogger and a black turtleneck top from yesterday.
Seeing as I was the only one left in the elevator to Ethan's office, I was becoming increasingly nervous. If he caught me in his office, what would happen?
As I was about to walk out of the elevator, Cindy sent me a text message: "Sorry, I can't wait any longer, I have a meeting, but here's the code".
Oh no, Cindy, she totally bailed. I thought I was the chicken. The closer I got to the office, the more anxious I became, and the more my palms sweat. As Ethan's secretary was on the phone, I figured the door opposite her was the door that leads into his office.
As I punch in the codes, my hands tremble. Finally, I heard a clicking sound. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding as I opened the door. His office design is almost the same as his apartment, but his office has a brown shelf on one side of the wall with books arranged neatly.
I placed the bouquet on the table. When I opened his drawer, I noticed a picture of a woman and a young Ethan. If I wasn't mistaken, it was him and his mother. The similarity was uncanny, and his smile was bright and beautiful. I couldn't help but take a picture on my phone.
I mentally swore when I looked at the wall clock, It's almost ten o'clock, snapping me out of my thoughts. I quickly placed the bouquet on his desk and the letter on a file in his drawer beside the picture and hastily shut the door. His secretary stared at me as I walked out of his office. Luckily, no one else was around. I dashed out of the building and headed straight to the restaurant to grab breakfast.
In forty minutes, a familiar voice greeted me as I walked toward my car. There you are. Cindy shouted.
Sorry for leaving you alone, but something came up at work I had to handle. I'm sorry she said.
As Ethan drove into their parking lot, my heart raced. I should go home and rest. I stuttered.
Okay, Luca, let me watch Ethan read the letter to see his reaction. She smiled while hugging me.
