"Look out Miss!" Jayson yelled as he yelled and grabbed a young lady who was about to be ran over by a car. "Are you alright ma'am?", he asked the young lady and she replied "Yes, thank you" and walked away without saying another word. He stared at her lovely figure as she walked past him through the streets. He was lost in thoughts before his twin brother, Jaydon, snapped him out of his thoughts and said "Bro, come on, we've got other places to go today, mum's gonna be upset if we're late again"
Jaydon grabbed his brother and dragged him to the car as their driver zoomed away. Jayson stared at the street wishing he could steal a glance at the young lady again but to his disappointment, she had disappeared. How much he wanted to see her again but she had just…. vanished into thin air. Jaydon noticed his brother's mood but he ignored it, so as not to start an argument or force Jayson to talk, knowing fully well that Jayson loved to keep his worries to himself.
Jayson continued to stare at the street, hoping he could still find her and he thought to himself "If I find her, I'll stop the car and ask for her name, phone number, address and any other detail but will she actually give me?". Jaydon could no longer hold the silence that filled the car so he decided to start up a discussion with his brother. He said "Jayson, mums gonna be thrilled when she sees the gifts, we got for her. Jarinda and Jasmine are gonna be real jelly!" Jarinda was their elder sister while Jasmine was their younger sister.
Jayson looked Jaydon in the eye and said "Although it's not a competition but I know that Jarinda is gonna have a few tricks under her sleeves so don't be disappointed bro. Jasmine on the other hand is nothing to worry about, she's just five and would give mum a kiss or two". The twins smiled and held hands, knowing fully well that they put in all they had for the gift and they were sure their mum was gonna love it. Each year, all three of them- except Jasmine- would compete for who would have the best gift for their mum and Jarinda always won them so this year, they doubled their effort to give everyone a shock.
When they got home, they asked the body guards to pack up the wrapped gifts to the living room where the birthday was to be celebrated. The twins, in the same clothing, held hands and looked like mirror images as they passionately walked into the living room. There they met Jasmine on their mum's laps, Jarinda on a separate seat and their best friends, Aganon and Roland, seated by their mum's side each and resting on her shoulders like kids. The twins could not stop themselves from laughing as they walked to the front and wished their mum a happy birthday and got seated.
Jayson opened a box and took out his violin while his brother took out his saxophone and played a lovely opening song which brought tears to their mother's eye, even Jarinda sobbed quietly, it was their father's favorite song before he passed, they all knew that. After the opening song, the lights were off and the cottons dropped while the projector began its job. It projected several images of the time they all spent together as a family, including times they spent with their late father and all these made them all cry, including Aganon and Roland because they close to Mr. Grande as he was everyone's rock. People all around were sad and heartbroken when he died, some still were.
After the presentation, the light was on and everyone's eye was red and swollen, including Jasmine who never knew her father. Mrs. Grande hugged the twins and said "This is the second-best birthday gift someone will ever give me. Your father gave me the best gift when he gave me a hospital report which stated I was pregnant, after which he proposed to me. You all are all I need, including you two, Aganon and Roland. I love you all so much. Jerald always said that a child is a blessing but, in this case, I have six children with six times the blessings. Thank you."
They all hugged each other and Jarinda said "You just made everyone happy beyond the gift competition. Thank you, guys.". the twins could clearly see how hurt she was, being reminded of their father. She was the only girl in the house before he died and she was really close to him, sometimes, she even slept in his room with him and Mrs. Grande would always call her the mistress of the house, even though she and Mr. Grande had no other motive than a father-daughter relationship. Jayson dragged Jaydon out of the house and said "This is just the first step, we need to make Jasmine one of us, she is so withdrawn anytime we talk about dad and I can see the pain in her eye, hidden behind that smile of hers."
