Why was he called Hawk?
Was that even his real name, because a mother will not name her child Hawk in a normal state of mind, except she had a special reason.
Maybe one day she will gather the courage to ask him. She watched in horror at the number of drinks that occupied a cupboard. He grabbed a big bottle and a cup and looking at her like he could read her thoughts, he grinned. He settled on the chair behind his desk and poured a desirable amount in the cup.
"You look really tired, are you sure you want to continue standing like that?" He glanced over at the empty chair before his desk.
She was very tired but she couldn't just shake off the feeling that sitting on that chair and listening to whatever he was going to say was up to no good.
He drank from the cup and watched as she reluctantly made her way to the chair. It was exhilarating to think she was so terrified by him. He could almost taste her fear and the alcohol couldn't be any more sweeter... he enjoyed it.
She sat there, squirminly, looking down at her wriggling fingers. She raised her head and forced herself to match with his intimidating gaze.
"Thank you so much for everything you've done for me and my family". She said gratefully and hoped that was a good start to get him talking instead of staring at her as though she were a curiosity.
"Ah, no worries", He replied in a crisp voice. "And your mother? Is she okay now?"
Diamond had a resentful feeling in the pit of her stomach when he asked after her mother and the next thought that followed was the reminder that her stepfather refused to tell her who her real father was. She became glum that instant and replied weakly, "She will be better once they conduct the surgery. Thank you so much for supporting me".
Hawk notice the edge to her voice but he ignored it. He was aware she was going through tough times. He had no reaction to her pain and knowing so well that things were going to get tougher. "Anyway", He waved off the taught. "Now to the main reason why you are here".
She rushed in. "Please sir, if it's about money and you want me to pay you back... I am poor and it's going to take a long time to gather that amount of money".
Hawk was so shocked yet he laughed so hard and realised he was actually amused. "Who said I was going to ask you to pay me back?"
Diamond eyes were screwed shut so she opened them and she felt deeply embarrassed. Well if he didn't want her to pay him back then what exactly did he want?
"I am a straight man so I won't lie to you. I want you to do something for me it has nothing to do with money"
"What?" Diamond could hear her heartbeat. There was a knock on the door. It was Sergio. "I just wanted to inform you that the hostages have been found", He informed Hawk urgently. Hawk's face turns serious and he looked very angry at what Sergio had told him. "Bring them here, and Pablo as well".
Sergio hurried out of the room. Diamond looked at Hawk who's demeanour had changed. At least, ever since she met him she had never seen this part of him.
He looked so furious, his eyes were blazing. Diamond knew something was odd and that 'hostage' part she found difficult to understand.
The door barged open, Sergio dragging two screaming girls inside, he pushed them to the floor and commanded them to kneel. They fearfully obeyed. They looked about Diamond's age. They looked so skinny and hungry and they were crying dreadfully refusing to look up. They clung close to each other.
At first, Diamond was numb with shock, unable to move from where she sat. The next thing was confusion as she was battling within herself what was happening.
Realisation might have taken a lot of time to sink in, but when it did, it was just an overwhelming panic attack.
She jumped out of her seat in motification but dare not say a word. At this point, she got all her answers. These poor girls were kept hostage by Hawk and Sergio and probably did dirty business in this Gazelle shipping company giving off false impression.
"Where is that bastard!" Hawk demanded in outrage, looking like he will pounce on Sergio as he slammed his fists against the table.

Sergio left and came back with Pablo. Hawk got up from his chair but sat at the edge of his desk. He had snatched a stick of cigarette and lighter as well. Once he lit the cigarette, he started to smoke.
There was dead silence in the office but the girls were still whimpering and shaking. Pablo was a rough looking guy. His hair dishaveled and he had hairy skin. He was a fat and lazy looking guy.
Sergio pushed him to the floor and he fell on his knees. He looked down with his hands crossed in front of him.
Hawk became calm and he said, "A simple task I gave you and you failed me".
Nobody said anything. Not even Pablo. He knew the consequences. "Now tell me one reason why I shouldn't behead you right now". Pablo raised his head a bit and met Hawk's eyes, he regretted the action. An unexpected blow from Sergio landed on his back, weighing him down to the floor. He groaned in pain. Another punch on his ribs and then he became a punching bag. While all this was happening the only thing that came to Diamond head was, run! escape! a way out! she was terrified all she could think of was how to leave this place as soon as possible.
His moans and cries wasn't going to save him from the tragedy. He knew his offence. Looking into Hawk's eyes especially when being punished was high level of disrespect and serious affliction came with the offence.
Hawk did one slight motion with his hands and Sergio stopped hitting him. Sergio was breathing heavily much more Pablo who was beaten up. He laid almost unconscious on the cold floor, his face and mouth covered in blood and writhing in pain.
"Are you ready to tell me why I shouldn't kill you", Hawk asked dusting the cigarettes in the ashtray.
Pablo coughed out blood and said in a rough and painful voice, "Please don't kill me... I have a wife and... children". He groaned.
Hawk smiled vaguely. "You have a wife and children", He mused.
"Would they be proud to hear that you failed a simple assignment? A simple instruction, keep your eyes open! But you preferred to sleep and let this little bitches escape". He looked away from Pablo to the girls who were shrinking in terror.
"I promise you, it won't happen again". Pablo clutched his stomach and vomited more blood. "If it happens again... you can kill me and kill my family as well".
Hawk looked at him for a long moment. "You are a disgrace, Pablo, and I'll make you remember that". He motioned Sergio. Sergio went to the shelf and brought a small box. He opened it before Hawk. It was a small box that contained small weapons. He breathed as he looked at the options. A knife. A dagger. A vibrator. The options were many and finally, he went for the blunt knife. He raised it to his face, examining the blade. He could smell flesh and blood... pleasant memories.
His pulse quickened in anticipation. "Bring him over here". He said in a low husky voice. Sergio dragged Pablo's almost lifeless body to the table, pressing his left hand firmly on the table.
Pablo began to wail at the urgency of his needs. Hawk got down from the desk and looked mercilessly at the poor man. "After today, I promise you, you and sleep will become enemies", He told him.
"Thank me later".
"Please". Pablo begged.
Hawk raised the knife and Sergio pinned Pablo down even more. It was a helpless situation. Hawk let down the knife and made a rough cut on Pablo's wrist. Being that it was a blunt knife, it was hard to dig into his skin like a sharp knife would. It was more painful. Hawk raised the knife again and did another slash on Pablo's wrist. Pablo couldn't bear the pain he shouted back in dreadful horror as Hawk continued to stab him... slice him.
Hawk did not stop. Every moment he stabbed his wrist, he got deeper and deeper. Pablo scream of pain encouraged him even more. He didn't stop till he completed the surgery.
The wail ceased and Pablo dropped to the floor leaving his bloody wrist behind on the table.
Hawk breathed out a sigh of satisfaction, marveling at what his blunt knife had done again.
