Chapter 1 - The Fated Escape

Apolla

The stench of damp concrete and fear clung to my senses as I crouched in the dimly lit cell, my heart pounding like a trapped animal. I had been in captivity for what felt like an eternity. They had taken me and my fraternal twin sister, Amelia, and imprisoned us in this forsaken place, though my sister is held in a different area. If she was close enough I would be able to sense her, I know she is alive, but I haven't been able to feel her presence in a while. The people who took me have been hoping to harness my powers for their sinister purposes. Little did they know, I was no ordinary captive; I was a woman with the blood of a werewolf running through my veins, and that gave me a strength and resilience they couldn't comprehend.

The hours blurred together, marked only by the rhythmic hum of the fluorescent lights overhead. My wolf senses had become my only solace, helping me navigate the torment of isolation. The moon, the ever-present symbol of my power, have been one of my only sources of hope, appearing through the small, grated window high on the cell wall each night. The main thing pulling me through is the overwhelming feeling that I will one day reunite with my sister.

As I traced the lines of the mysterious tattoos that covered my arms, a power surged through me. It was as if the moon itself whispered in my ear, urging me to break free. I had been biding my time, waiting for the perfect moment, and tonight, it had finally arrived.

The guards, just outside of the room that has been my prison for the past seven years, have their faces concealed by masks, were careless. The one they sent to check on me had grown complacent, perhaps even overconfident. I had noticed the subtle drop in his guard over the past few weeks. He never expected a frail, broken woman like me to pose any threat. That was his mistake.

The moment he entered my cell, I sprang into action. With a swift and precise movement, I lunged at him, my supernatural strength catching him off guard. I could feel my claws extend as I fought to overpower him. He howled in pain as I scratched at his arm, drawing blood. The metallic tang of it was a bitter taste of victory.

I grabbed the keys that hung from his belt, desperately searching for the right one to unlock the heavy door. My trembling hands betrayed my excitement, but I couldn't afford to make a mistake. The echoes of our struggle reverberated through the corridor, and I knew I had little time.

With a triumphant click, the lock gave way, and I yanked the door open. As I slipped out into the dimly lit hallway, a wave of newfound freedom washed over me. The scent of my would-be captor's blood still lingered on my fingers, a reminder that I was no longer a helpless prisoner.

I moved through the maze-like facility, relying on my supernatural senses to guide me. My enhanced hearing allowed me to eavesdrop on conversations of the guards, who had grown frantic in their search for me. I wasn't just any werewolf; I was an anomaly they had underestimated.

But my escape was far from over. I had to find my sister , however, every corner of the facility was a potential danger, and I couldn't let my guard down. My heart raced as I moved stealthily through the shadows, dodging security cameras and guards hoping to feel the connection to my sister. The moon's light, my eternal guide, led me through the labyrinthine passages and finally out of a door to the open woods.

Moment s later as I am running through the forest of a beautiful night, I hear the footsteps and grunts of guards chasing after me. My blood boils as my adrenaline quicken. My senses are going crazy as my wolf fights to come forward. Suddenly I catch a scent in the breeze, a scent that was amazing and it filled me with a strange mixture of fear and longing. As I drew closer to the source of the scent, I couldn't deny the pull I felt however I could not stop, I HAD to escape

I am running as fast as my two feet can take me, trying to avoid the the heaps of logs and twigs underneath me. Behind me, I hear the heavy crunches of footsteps as the men who once held me captive, close in on me. A brief moment of panic is overcame by fear when I loose my footing and trip over a thick branch. I tumble down a small hill. My fall is eventually broken by my head as it hits a tree. All of the wind in my lungs was knocked out of me and my mind was in a daze.

"Shit", I mumble to myself once I finally get enough air in my lungs. I reach up to touch the back of head, there is warm liquid. I look at my fingers, "shit" the blood has covered them completely.

"There she is!" Calls out one of the men from above me. I hazily try to get up but I am unable to move. The men start to head down the hill towards me, when suddenly, one of the men is flung and hits a tree with a loud cracking noise. All I was able to make out before I drifted into darkness was that the men that were after me was now running in fear. Atleast now I can die in peace and won't have to be anyone's experiment..

Alpha Deshaud

It was a nice day, however, I wasn't out for leisure. I had business to attend to. Some of my pack members had gone missing, along with a few rogues that live on the outskirts of town near the forest. My beta, Kendrick, and I are doing a little bit of investigating near and within the forest.

"How far into the forest did that woman say she believes the next rogues are?" I ask beta Kendrick.

"About 5 or so miles. Should we shift and move faster?"

"No. Let's stay discreet", I tell him.

After a couple of hours of us walking, a breeze blows in from the east and I am overwhelmed by a delightful scent of fresh sugar cookies and hot cocoa. My body tenses and an electric pulse radiates within me. My wolf, Maddox, starts to get restless and is urging me to follow that scent. "Do you smell that?" I ask Kendrick.

He sniffs the air, "human? There is a wolf with them as well". My blood ran cold. I was so delighted by the heavenly scent that I completely overlooked the strong scent of human that was accompanied with it. Something was not right, humans usually didn't travel this far into the forest.

"Let's go", I tell Kendrick. We quicken our pace as we head towards the scent. Suddenly I see a woman run past about two hundred or so feet in front of me. She is curvy and statuesque with long legs carrying her like a torpedo. She is amazingly fast. She has caramel brown skin and long curly messy hair. She is wearing torn up sweatpants, a dirty ripped shirt and no shoes. About one hundred feet behind her are four men chasing after her. They all have on a simular looking uniforms. All navy blue with a purple and gold emblem on it.

As I am observing the men, the woman suddenly trips and falls, causing her to tumble down a small hill. After a moment I am suddenly overwhelmed by the scent of her blood. My wolf and I start to panic. I couldn't help myself. I shifted and ran towards the men and the woman. I lurched myself into one of the men sending him flying into a tree with a loud crack. By this time beta Kendrick has shifted as well and tore the head off of two of the men trying to make an escape. I take the head off of the last guy.

I instantly shift back into human form and pick up the woman. Up close, you can see faint scars and bruises underneath amazing tattoos. She looks beautiful though malnourished. Her head ,which was bleeding profusely moments ago, has slowed down to a slow drip. Her wolf is healing her surprisingly fast.

"This one is still alive!" Calls out beta Kendrick. He is standing by the first man that I sent flying into the tree.

"Bring him", I instruct. We briskly make out way to town and back to our pack house. "Put him in the dungeon. Wake his ass up and then let's get the show started. I will be down in a few minutes," I tell Kendrick as soon as we enter the house.

"Yes alpha", said beta Kendrick with a bow as he drags our prisoner to the dungeon. I take our guest to the pack doctor, told the doctor about her fall and then I told them to take the best care of her. I instruct them to contact me as soon as she started to wake up. I left the hospital wing and headed straight to the dungeon. It was time for some answers and I was going to get them one way or another, especially anything that has to do with my luna.
