Cynthia woke up in her Alaskan King-size bed, hugging the n-shaped pregnancy pillow that supported her back and her belly just perfectly, she felt as light as a feather and wondered what had woken her up from her deep sleep.
Not even the ultimate stress relief spa day packages gave a better afterglow than the foot massages George gave her, his skills even seemed to improve over the years.
The first time he ever gave her one, they had just returned from hiking the Klingle Valley Trail when she was seventeen, and after she got a taste of the sinful bliss that was George's massages, she started asking for them each time she saw him.
He started using his talents against her soon after, blackmailing her into getting higher marks in subjects she hated in exchange for a heavenly session with him. The two of them mostly bargained over Algebra.
He ended up increasing her GPA.
Cynthia smiled again remembering the good old days, she reached out to the other side of the bed, and her hand kept feeling its way until she found what she was looking for. The contract she had drafted yesterday with the help of George. It was right over the pillow.
*Knock, knock, knock*
Yes, that was what woke her up in the first place, her nanny's special knock on her door.
"Yes nanny~"
Cynthia's nanny entered the room, but Cynthia had no intention of leaving her bed, she could hear the curtains being drawn but it didn't change a thing for her, she wore her 100% silk sleep mask that was hand-made to be a stress reliever, her eyes were safe from the vicious sunlight assault.
Her nanny cleared her throat.
"Ms. Evans,"
"Oh whyyy, the baby is still sleepy!"
"The baby will want you to wake up for this."
Nanny won the round. Cynthia removed her mask squinting against the blinding light that surrounded the huge bedroom. Too curious to leave her eyes to adjust before she fully opened them.
"This better be good, nanny," Cynthia warned.
"Come in," the nanny ordered, two maids with two flower arrangements went inside the room. The two sets couldn't be more different. The first one was very familiar, 100 Tulips, two shades of pink. She had received that special arrangement every single year for her birthday.
"It's not my birthday," Cynthia murmured, less than satisfied that she sacrificed her beauty sleep for this.
The second arrangement was a blue Chrysanthemums bouquet, having received special lessons about the language of flowers, Cynthia knew immediately what they meant. fidelity and long life, a great choice of flowers for expecting mothers.
Too show-offy.
There was only one person in the world who would go into that depth of detail to celebrate her sweet revenge.
"Both have cards, would you like me to bring them to you?" Mrs. Edinburgh asked tentatively.
"Thank you, nanny, start with the one George sent," Cynthia wanted her good mood to last just a while longer. her nanny picked up the card from between the Tulips and started reading.
"Roses are red, flowers are pink... You and me tonight, let's go out and have a drink…" Cynthia's nanny frowned, "honestly that Robinson boy..."
"Arghhh, just flip the card nanny! I can see more on the other side!" Cynthia never understood why her nanny hated George's guts that much.
'What did he ever do to her?' She mused inwardly, a small shadow of a melancholic forgotten feeling loomed over Cynthia. She wondered if her nanny held a grudge against the George who broke Cynthia's heart more than a decade ago but dismissed the idea shortly after.
Mrs. Edinburgh grumbled about people lacking a proper sense of humor as she flipped the card, "...And by drink, I mean orange juice." The nanny's face was priceless. Cynthia giggled until she felt tears in her eyes.
Then she sighed.
"What does the witch want from me now," Mrs. Edinburgh understood who Cynthia meant immediately, she picked up the card from the blue arrangement and read it out loud.
"Cynthia dear, I received the wonderful news about the newest addition to the Green family, do have dinner with me tonight at the usual place and the usual time, I made the reservations. Mrs. Green."
Nanny paused for half a second then nodded to herself, "Would you like me to throw them out?"
Cynthia took a moment to measure her nanny's seriousness when she understood that she meant throwing both the arrangements out.
"Honestly nanny, don't you see that this is a golden opportunity?"
Mrs. Edinburgh's face said that she didn't.

The door to the Le Diplomate opened to Cynthia as she walked in elegantly with bronzy makeup and a messy chignon updo, she wore a lace maternity shift dress looking simply stunning in a shade of cool coral. Her breasts looked just perfect in a plunging V-neck detailed with pretty scalloped lace, and the dress stopped at a smart knee length.
She picked that particular dress just for its color.
'The witch will hate it,' Cynthia thought to herself as a brilliant smile shone on her face. She was so happy that she didn't need to think twice about what her high-maintenance ex-mother-in-law thought ever again in her entire life.
Getting rid of the witch while she got rid of the cheater was simply a bonus for Cynthia.
It took her one glance to locate the handsome man that sat waiting for her at a different table than the one her ex-mother-in-law had reserved for their dinner.
Cynthia had a big surprise for mommy dearest.
George spotted Cynthia the second she spotted him, he met her halfway and held her hand, delivering a kiss on it, the amount of passion he let out into that kiss had Cynthia withdrawing her hand smoothly under the many watchful eyes that observed them, she quickly placed a hand on his arm and delivered a peck on his cheek to compensate, George took advantage of her embarrassment and placed his hand on the small of her back just an inch lower than where he should have, Cynthia couldn't keep her heart in check as he led her to their table and drew the chair out for her.
He sat in front of her, looking almost good enough to eat in his navy-colored Prada suit.
"Are you sure you want me to be here tonight?" His blue eyes shone mischievously, "She will only become more venomous. And you know I won't let it slide," he was giving her a heads up.
'Fair enough,' Cynthia nodded in acknowledgment to what he had in mind, "She'll have to see if I care," she said.
Cynthia's smile was more brilliant than ever as she waited for the witch to finally show her ominous face.
