Chapter 271 - I Blame George

It was a sunny autumn day in Washington DC. Cynthia and George were entertaining a now much more frequently visiting guest of theirs, a certain detective that got promoted to becoming one of their children's godfathers.

"Have some more apple pie!" Cynthia said but then winced when she shifted her posture too fast to place the slice in Garcia's plate.

"Thank you," he said, oblivious to her pain, "It's very delicious,"

Cynthia smiled for Garcia as she placed another piece next to the first one. She always made sure to be the hostess who personally served food and beverages whenever Garcia was around knowing all too well that he couldn't stand being surrounded by a butler or maids. Even if George assured him that the mansion's staff made the same amount of money the detective himself did and hid the fact that some of the older staff made even more.

Garcia still couldn't stand the idea.
