Early the next morning Esmeralda awoke to the fresh and wonderful smell of breakfast being made. Esmeralda peeked down the stairs into the kitchen and, to her surprise, someone was in there cooking. But who was it? Her father should have already left for work, Esmeralda thought to herself. To her surprise, when she entered the kitchen, she saw Angie making pancakes and eggs.
Good morning sweetheart Angie remarked as she turns around to look at the young Esmeralda still in her panda and unicorn pajamas and slippers, rubbing her eyes. Good morning miss Angie Esmeralda replied with an adorable smile on her, wondering why miss Angie was making breakfast in their kitchen.
"Breakfast will be ready soon. So get ready for school." Remarked Angie as continued scrambling the eggs with a loving, motherly smile on her face.
"Breakfast?" Asked Esmeralda, amazed and curious as to what was going on. As grew accustomed to preparing lunch and breakfast for herself.
"Well dear, your father told me how busy he was and that you are practically rising yourself. Which no got a cutie pie such as yourself. That simply won't do, my dear, so from now on I will come and make your breakfast after I get my girls ready for school." Replied Angie.
"Really?" Asked Esmeralda with youthful enthusiasm and joy.
"Yes, now run along and get ready for school, dear." Remarked Angie as she rubs her hand on Esmeralda's hair, lovingly smiling at her while she does it.
With an adoring smile and an enthusiastic burst of speed, Esmeralda quickly flew up and down stairs and prepared herself for school. A few moments later, Esmeralda arrived back in the kitchen with her pink uniform and white shoes on. Ainge ushered her to take a seat at the table. To her delight, she was surprised when Angie present the breakfast to her. Pancakes, eggs, sausages, cookies, and apple juice are all excellently displayed as if Esmeralda was eating in a five-star restaurant instead of her kitchen. The pancakes and eggs were shaped into hearts, whilst the sausages were modeled to form the shape of flowers. A plate full of star-shaped chocolate chip cookies dazzled young Esmeralda's eyes, are she had never had a breakfast like this since her mom died.
Before Esmeralda could dig into her feast of a breakfast, Ainge brought her a bowl of strawberries and blueberries.
"Eat up, cutie. A growing girl needs all the food she can get." Remark Ainge as she walked away with a smile on her face.
Esmeralda began eating and to her expectations, the food, just like it looked and smelled, tasted heavenly, almost as if her mom had cooked it from beyond the grave. Whilst Esmeralda enjoyed her breakfast, Ainge came behind her and began brushing and combing her hair.
"A beautiful young lady such as yourself should always look your best when in public. So let's give you a hairstyle that makes everyone notice." Ainge remarked, and she put Esmeralda's hair in rows and placed pink and white ribbons in them.
Esmeralda blushed as Ainge put on the finishing touches of her hairstyle. Good Ainge remarked as she showed Esmeralda how beautiful she looked in the minor. Esmeralda marveled and blushed, as it has been a long time since anyone took the time to see about her like this.
As Esmeralda left the house to attend school, Ainge called to her and handed her a lunch bag. Don't forget your lunch, dear remarked Ainge as she kissed Esmeralda gently on the forehead as the young child went to school.
For the entire day of school, Esmeralda, to the surprise of everyone, smiled and giggled, as she was overjoyed by the morning she had. This was a truly rare event since her mother died. No one has seen Esmeralda display positive emotions until today.
After school, Esmeralda rushed home to see if Ainge was still there. To her disappointment, no one was home. Esmeralda dropped her bag on the ground as she walked into the kitchen to prepare dinner. But to her surprise, someone already lined the kitchen with food.
Macaroni pie, baked chicken, mashed potatoes, roast pork, and much more were displayed on the kitchen table like a banquet fit for a king. The various smells of the food hit young Esmeralda like a train of amazement and beauty. As everything smelt heavenly.
On the table in the center of the table was a note with a red lipstick kiss on it. Esmeralda opens the note, which read: My dearest little princess, I have made you dinner. Hope you know enjoy. Sorry, I had to leave my little cutie pie, but I have five little daughters of my own, so I had to go back home to attend to them. But I miss you and can't wait to see you in the morning again. I told your father to come home early and tuck you into bed, so he such be home before you fall asleep. Love you Ainge.
A tsunami of tears streams down Esmeralda's face as she reads the letter. She folds the letter and tucks it into her pocket and prepares to eat. With every bite of Ainge's food, Esmeralda began crying as she felt loved and wanted since someone will make the effort to make something for her to eat, let alone such a feast.
After dinner, Esmeralda washed the dishes and stored the rest of the food away, and prepared herself for bed. As she lay in bed, loud and heavy footsteps could be heard coming up the stairs. The door opened, and it was her father who came to read her a story and tuck her into bed.
"How was your day with Ainge?" asked Esmeralda's father and he sat on the bed next to her.
"Wonderful father! Can't wait to see her again." Proclaimed Esmeralda with a humongous smile on her face.
"Am glad you did." Esmeralda's father replied as he kissed her on her forehead and left the room for her to sleep.
As Esmeralda doze off into sleep, her little heart filled with excitement as she awaited the morning to come to see Ainge again. The next morning Esmeralda awoke and immediately flew down the stairs and into the kitchen. To the young girl's surprise and overwhelming delight, Ainge was in the kitchen preparing breakfast as he did the day before.
And just like before, Ainge smiled at Esmeralda with an adoring motherly looked in her eyes and asked how the young Esmeralda's night was. To which Esmeralda replied, wonderful but I could wait to see you. Am happy to hear that but you know how we do things. Go get ready for school while I prepare a breakfast fit for a princess replied Ainge as she ushered young Esmeralda up the stairs to get ready for school.
"Yes, mom. Oops sorry." Remarked Esmeralda as she was embarrassed, calling Ainge, mom.
"It is ok sweetie, I would nothing more than to be your mother." Replied Ainge with a big bright smile on her face.
Esmeralda smiled and quickly ran up the stairs to get ready for school. In minutes, Esmeralda arrived back in the kitchen and sat at the table. As she ate her breakfast, Ainge combed and brushed her hair for school. With breakfast finished, Ainge handed Esmeralda her lunch kit as Esmeralda took off for school. But not before hugging Ainge and telling her she loved her before taking off again.
This continued for several weeks. Esmeralda would get up to meet Ainge in the kitchen making a feast of breakfast and after she will come home to dinner and a loving note from Ainge. Everything was falling back into place for young Esmeralda until one day another little girl awakened Esmeralda in her bedroom.
