Chapter 8 - Entry 8: The Boys

After hearing their cases, I already know who I would pick.

Senior Alana stepped in the front and started to talk.

"Okay, now that the two candidates have spoken, we will now be conducting our voting. Let's make this simple and quick. Raise your hands if you are in favor of Miss Jasmine to be your Batch Representative."

Roughly half of the students raise their hands which makes it hard to estimate whether or not she wins. The majority that voted for Jasmine were girls. I also raised my hands.

"Are you voting for Jasmine, sir?"

"Yes, I liked her motivation, and having the Rank 2 of the batch as our leader will be an advantage. Are you leaning towards Caelan?"

"Yes. For me, a true leader does not need to be that intelligent. He needs to have the strength to protect as well as an approachable one."

"Are you saying that I am not the kind of leader you are looking for?"

"No no no of course not, sir. You have all the tools of a great leader. I am just speaking based on our current situation."

"Ha ha! I am just messing with you. Besides, you do have a point as well. Caelan is not a bad choice."

A leader that is strong but is also approachable. I never thought about that before. Looks like I still have a lot to learn before I become the rightful leader I strive to become.

While we were talking, it looks like Alana finished counting the votes.

"13, 14, 15, 16, 17! That is more than the majority! Miss Jasmine won the election. She is now officially the 1st Year Batch Representative this School Year. Do you have anything else to say, Jasmine?"

"I would like to thank everyone that voted for me. Just like what I promised earlier, I won't disappoint you."

"Okay, now that your election is done, let us meet next time at the Bloc Meeting this Wednesday. Goodbye!"

After that, everyone left the room one by one.

Frank and I also made our way into the door when all of a sudden, we stopped by Caelan and two other classmates.

"Hey pretty boy, why did you do that?"

I looked at him in confusion and asked.

"Who are you talking to? Me?"

"Yes, you pretty boy. Why did you vote for that girl instead of me? Aren't you a man?"

Oh boy, looks like this first is going to be eventful.

"To think that I even considered voting you earlier…"

"What did you just say?!"

Frank was about charge Caelan but I quickly stopped him.

"No need for that, Frank. It is still the first day."

Frank immediately calmed down and then I turned my attention toward Caelan.

"I am going, to be honest to you Caelan, I honestly thought that you were deserving to become the Batch Representative, but seeing the way you act now makes me feel like I am foolish!"

I tried to trigger him but instead, Caelan along with the others laughed.

"HA HA HA HA HA!!!"

"Looks like pretty boy knows how to talk back!"

"What was your name again."

"It's Alex."

"Alex. Alright, Alex. You will now be remembered as the first-ever person that I beat up in the Academy. You should be thankful."

Caelan then gathered his fist and then throws a punch at me. It was pathetically slow for me. A normal person would be injured with this punch which was pretty impressive.

I was about to dodge it and throw a counterattack when all of a sudden, someone held his arms to stop the attack.

"How dare you interfere! Who are you?!?!"

I was quite shocked as well. It was Greyson, the student that was also from Mountcastle.

"You should do this now. Some staff might see this which might affect our class. It is still the first day after all."

Caelan tried to break free from being held but he was struggling.

"Tsk. Fine, we will go, but this is not the end, Pretty boy."

And then they left.

Whew! That was quite an introduction.

"Thank you for your help, Greyson. Although I could handle that situation myself. Nonetheless, I am still thankful."

"Oh, come on. Fellow Mountcastle kids should help one another in the big cities, am I right?"

"I see. I will make sure to repay you in the future."

"Sure. See you next time then."

Greyson then left.

I look at Frank who was silent.

"You can now let go, Frank. How was that experience?"

As soon as I commanded, Frank immediately ranted.

"WOOH!!! I almost could not breathe earlier! That was the most torturous thing I have ever done! Please do not stop me next time sir or else I will lose my mind! Those dirty bastards!!!"

In order to make sure our cover is not blown easily, I challenged Frank that whenever I get in situations where it looks like I am in trouble, never step in unless I say so. He has been protecting me ever since we were kids. I know that this challenge going to be tough for him and seeing him earlier looks like it was true.

"Anyways, good job for stopping yourself. I am sure those folks will come back next time, but let us focus our attention somewhere else."

"Where should we go now, sir?"

"Let's explore the campus."

The situation earlier was certainly something I did not expect, but what s more shocking? The fact that Caelan has that kind of attitude or the sudden interference of Greyson. I know that he said he is only helping since we were from Mountcastle, but I doubt that. There must be some kind of hidden agenda.

Either way, I am going to keep my eye on both Caelan and Greyson.

Frank and I explored the campus just as planned. Nothing particularly special occurred. It seems like most of the students are either out or are currently busy minding their own business.

The night time arrived quickly and we headed to our Dormitory.

Just as expected, the dormitory is divided based on gender as well as the Blocs.

We are in the Male Bloodless Dormitory.

Every room has two students living in it.

What I did not expect is that Frank and I are separated.

I am going to be roommates with a fellow first-year Bloodless Student named Dustin who is from the Capital City of Everett. He did not really give me a memorable impression earlier.

"Should I request a swap of roommates, sir?"

"No, it's fine Frank. No need to make a fuss about this."

I should also use this opportunity in order to lessen my reliance on Frank. All information I learned today was from him. I need to work hard by myself.

"You can now head to your room. See you tomorrow."

We waved our goodbyes and went straight to our respective rooms.
