As the car drove on, Julian told me all about his company and all the things I needed to know about my job as his assistant, I was to take his calls and arrange meetings according to his schedule, I was to deliver important files to high profile contacts, covering up for him was another part of my job. I noticed that his eyes kept straying down my body.
He shifted in his seat uncomfortably the moment that I crossed and uncrossed my legs. I had to avoid his eyes because it was hard to hold his piercing gaze.
"Are you shy?" he asked me suddenly, I reacted instinctively to his question.
"Who? Me?" my mouth was moving faster than my brain.
"Who else would I be talking to?" he asked in a sarcastic tone, I instantly felt stupid.
"I am sorry sir, I am not shy." I lied.
"Then, why is it so hard for you to look me in the eyes?" he asked me sternly, I rubbed my thighs together because he looked so hot when he clenched his jaw.
'Stay focused!' I told myself mentally, I couldn't be caught slacking on the first day of the job.
"It has nothing to do with shyness, sir, I feel strange that I am talking to a wealthy person that is in the same age range as me, sir." I spoke slowly, he surprised me by laughing.
"So, what are you trying to imply? Only old men are supposed to be wealthy?" he said with a chuckle, he looked so different when he smiled, he had a set of shining whites that seemed to glisten, I was lost in his gaze for a second before I gave my answer.
"No, that is not what I am trying to imply. What I was trying to say is; it is a strange experience for me to be in front of a billionaire that is barely older than me, your aura overpowers everything in the room, you move and you talk like you own the place and yes of course you do own the place, so, it's really safe to say that your eyes are like the reapers claws that digs out my soul." he looked at me blankly for a moment before relaxing back in his chair.
"It's so fucking obvious." he said it with a bad-ass smirk plastered on his pink lips, I was too stunned to speak.
"What is?"
"The fact that you are shy." I sighed out of exasperation.
The real estate company building was a tall one, as the car rolled into the spacious parking lot I admired the beautiful designs that were decorated round the driveway and the whole courtyard, people moved here and there carrying files, we got down from the car and we got in the building, the reception area was big and busy as hell, it was rowdy and some reporters were talking at the top of their voices.
"Sir, how do you feel about this sudden change of power?" One reporter asked as soon as he saw Julian, the rest of the reporters rushed him with cameras and microphones.
"Sir, can you tell us what is going to happen to Ramirez Estates and co?"
"How is your mother handling the situation?" Another reporter asked the same time as the other one, Julian said nothing as he pushed his way through them.
I followed him close behind and the noise continued until we were inside the elevator.
"What the hell was that all about?" I asked as I tried to catch my breath, he just readjusted his tie and dusted his suit as if he hadn't just swum through a sea of reporters.
"The press always wants to know what is going on in the Ramirez family, any small gossip that will make a big scoop on the internet, they are hungry savages so when you are handling them better be cautious with what you say." he said it so casually as if he had gotten used to having people following him with cameras.
"I am the one that is going to handle them?" I asked as I realized the other half of his statement.
"Yes, you are. It is listed in your contract, you read the contract?" he asked me with a sly look, I looked away from his eyes before answering.
"Well, most of it."
The elevator bell rang and the doors opened to a floor of different offices, different people moved in and out of them and I followed Julian closely, his workers greeted him as we walked past and they gave me a confused look, I felt many eyes watching me as we approached the office that had the initials J.M.R- that stood for Julian Mateo Ramirez, there was an office desk in the front of his office and I saw that it already had my name on the tag which lied in the table.
He turned around and stated in a loud voice, "Listen up! This is Diana and she is my new personal assistant, any word that you hear from her is either from me or a representative of my direct order, she should be treated as a second in command and when I am not around, she will be the one to handle any issues on ground, give to her maximum respect as a lady and as your superior."
After that sudden speech he turned to me and spoke to me in a low tone.
"This is my office and this is your desk, when I need anything I call for you, check under that drawer and you will see your name tag that you will be wearing every day that you show up to work, welcome to your new job, personal assistant." he opened the door of his office and he entered without another word.
I sat on my desk and I wore the name tag.
I felt a new sense of pride as I sat on my chair in front of my computer.
''This is so much better than my last job." I muttered.
Some workers were already coming to greet me and I felt like I was part of a new family.
