Chapter 4 - Chapter Four: Dinner with Pack Lynons

The tension in the room grew as nobody said anything. Seated at the head of the 'Supreme' was Alpha Scott, accessing extensively the girl that saved his son. Some of the elders shifted uncomfortably in their seats.

Alpha Scott was more surprised than angry when he heard a 'human' had saved his only child. He also didn't think help would come from Aaliyah either. He hadn't heard from her in what felt like years after he made her leave Aisle.

Whatever his Pack thought about humans, didn't matter now. Luca is alive, because of this human, it won't go unrewarded."

What did you say your name was?" Alpha Scott asked her.

"Tasha, Tasha Murien Alpha Scott." She said with the little confidence she had left.

The stare of the Supreme made her uncomfortable as well as their Alpha. They were accessing her like she had done everything wrong.

Finally, Scott stood up from his seat and walked up to her. She could feel her heart beating uncontrollably. This man was intimidating and his stare was cold and uninviting too. She almost concluded that she had made a mistake agreeing to this, but she had no choice.

Aaliyah, her new guardian, told her that her journey and destiny starts within the four walls of Aisle and if she was destined for something more than saying spells and controlling things, she needed to be prepared for whatever was coming.

Alpha Scott's strides stopped and he now stood in front of her. His cold stare morphed into something unfamiliar to her.

A smile,

"Everyone, this girl here saved my son's life. If she hadn't gotten the seer on time, he would have been dead. So from now on, she becomes one of us."

"She's a human alpha." Somebody said from the table. "Our kind still suffers from the outcome of what they did years ago. She cannot be accepted."

"And I am the Alpha. I know what is best for Aisle. You all watched my son lie in pain almost to the point of death and you did nothing about it. But she did something about it."

He turned to the man who had spoken. "Wolf or not, We'll treat her like our own. I expect everyone to respect my decision."

He dropped his hands to her shoulders softly seconds after the supreme had nothing to say on the matter any longer.

"Thank you," he said to her. "Thank you for saving my son's life."

"Mom, I've had enough really." Luca complained when his mother tried to make him eat some more. "I am an adult. If someone walks in on you feeding me, it's absurd," Luca said.

"I don't care what they think. Well, wait till they almost lose their only child to know how it feels."

"Mother," Luca sighed. "I'm fine."

"You haven't eaten enough. Just a little more." Aisha said, but Luca's hand covered hers and dropped the spoon back into the plate.

"Mom?" He warned. "You don't have to babysit me, I'm perfectly fine."

"Says the boy who kept me worried for 3 days straight. What were you thinking, lying there unconscious?" She said and Luca sighed in frustration.

"Is your mother still insisting on feeding you?" He heard a familiar voice say. He turned to his father, silently thanking the goddess for bringing him.

"You are the only one that can make her stop. Please do make her stop. This is embarrassing."

"Scott?" Aisha warned.

"Just let your mother do her thing, Luca. I'll get an earful if I take her away."

Luca cursed silently. "Okay okay, I get it. There's nothing you can do, you're sick in love anyways." He muttered and he was hardly heard.

"What was that?" Scott asked.

"I want to see the girl." Luca said to his father. "What is she like?"

Alpha Scott chuckled then said, "Just like every normal girl. The sooner you get discharged, the sooner you see her."

"Will she be attending the academy?" Aisha asked and Alpha Scott answered her with a nod.

"She'll have a place at the pack house too. It's the best I can do for the girl that saved your life, Luca. We owe her a lot," Scott said.

Xavier puffed out smoke from his lips. He let his hands fall lifelessly while his back rested on the wall, relishing the feeling of loneliness. He wanted to have time alone after his father's tantrum the day before. Something about being a good beta or something. The truth remains that he didn't want to be a beta.

Times and times his father had tried to involve him in his responsibilities, he didn't just want in. He wondered how Logan accepted his responsibilities without a fight. He always knew himself to hate too much work and too much work was pack business in general.

Logan's situation was different though. Logan's father died in an attack and when that happened, Logan was just 18, old enough to take over.

Fuck comparison! He didn't want to do shit.

"Xavier?" Hands were placed on his shoulders but he already knew who it was.The fucking Gamma wouldn't let him be.

"What do you want?" Logan came to stand before him.

"Luca is awake and wants to see you," Logan told him.

Xavier scoffed. "What does he want from me?"

"You should ask him yourself. He's alive and will be discharged in two days. His father wants to hold the inauguration this weekend." Logan said. "Enough reason he wants to see you."

"I already told him, I don't want to get involved."

Logan said, "Well, you'll have to get involved, you are his beta."

"Watch your tone with me, Gamma. Not everyone is as good as accepting responsibilities like you!" Xavier snapped.

"What the hell is wrong with you man?" Logan spat. "We've been through this a thousand times. You fit in!"

"Well, I don't think I remember when we talked about this Logan," Xavier retorted. Logan scoffed, then shook his head and walked away, knowing fully well that he wasn't going to win this conversation.

Xavier was as difficult as fuck!

Dinner with pack mates? What was it going to be like?

What do they talk about? Business? War? Or....

She sighed, knowing fully well she wasn't going to get the hang of it without her experiencing it.

Just like every other time, their laughter died immediately she walked in with Alpha Scott. But this time, the silence was different. It wasn't the mocking kind of silence but the respectful one. How do they do that over here? She asked herself. This Alpha, must be pretty much their God. She said within herself.

Scoff offered her a warm smile and made her proceed further into the dining room.

"Everyone, this is Tasha and she'll be living with us as said earlier. You should be nice to her because she is no ordinary guest. She is my guest and I pray you treat her as such."

The night was still quiet and she stood back at them equally with no sign of fright.

"Have a seat wherever seems fit for you, Tasha."

She planted herself on an empty seat next to a six-year-old boy who was happily smiling at her. She thinks she heard someone call him 'Jamie'. His name was probably James or something.

"Oh, you are really pretty." The nine-year-old emphasized and Tasha was forced to let out a smile.

That was so cute!

"Thank you," she muttered to the little boy.

"Jamie, it's dinner time, no talking while you eat, now say your prayers." His sister told him and the boy immediately paid more attention to his dinner.

A plate of food was placed in front of Tasha and she began to feast also.
