Chereads / A Hunter In Teyvat / Chapter 40 - Chapter 37

Chapter 40 - Chapter 37

As we entered the bazaar, I could feel something tugging at my Aura, or in other words, my very soul was being pulled deeper into the bazaar.

"What's wrong Jake?" Lumine asked as she and Paimon noticed me freeze and hold onto my chest in discomfort at the feeling.

"I can feel something tugging at my aura. Having your soul being pulled on isn't in anyway comfortable." I grimaced before I managed to bury the uncomfortable feeling and with no needed discussion Lumine fell behind me as I followed the feeling of the pull on my Aura.

Once we reached the end of the bazaar and the shops hawking their wares were plainly to be of the less desirable quality, I finally found out of what was calling to me.

It was a frankly large slab of rock studded with small magic crystals and seeing myself bee line to that particular rock, the man hawking his wares chuckled as he began to shill his products to fleece me.

"Haha kid I can see you have an eye for great display pieces." The man then lightly tapped the large kitchen counter sized slab of rock as he chuckled. "This could be a good center piece for a well to do home or could even be given as a gift with its natural beauty to someone of great esteem!" Remembering Liyue was the land of the Geo Archon I knew minerals had greater value placed on them.

I nodded along only slightly paying attention before I began mentally tracing the large rock slab before I cut the man off. "I will give you fifty thousand Mora right now for this."

The man blustered saying her wouldn't take less than three hundred thousand and I only chuckled in response as I looked around the poor part of the bazaar he was trying to see out of. "Don't try to fleece me old man. Just take the money so you don't have to pay someone to hopefully not break it as they put it back in your cart." He was in the middle of Liyue and either way it was going to the Northern part of Liyue with the small towns of there or he was going down south to Liyue Harbor, he was still going to have to go up and down with a cart load of minerals.

"Fine you win." The man groused and I couldn't help but smile as I handed over the money, but the smile was quickly lost as I grunted in annoyance as I called upon my Aura to carry the massive slab of rock much to the confusion of the man who sold the rock.

"Paimon is deeply worried Jake went insane being in Liyue. First he taunted a scary Harbinger and now he spent like a weeks' worth of food money on a stupid rock." Paimon grumbled as she flew around me and Lumine as I carried the large slab of rock outside the bazaar and finally dropped it onto the ground with a heavy thudding noise echoing out.

"Paimon... A loaf of bread, mayo, cheese and most important a sleeping Paimon equals a sandwich!" I threatened waving a loaf of bread at Paimon who quickly flew behind Lumine to escape the fate of being eaten.

Seeing the flying commentary machine was no longer speaking I looked back down on the rock and frowned feeling the odd sensation of my soul reaching toward the rock and with a grunt I stomped down on the rock slab with my foot fully encased in silver aura and a thick coating of Anemo energy created a loud cracking noise as the stone shattered and the crystals went flying.

"Jake... Are you a treasure hound or something?" Lumine asked as a soft green glowing light escape the stone slab I broke and then Lumine sent a powerful gust of Anemo energy into the rock slab sending the left-over rock shards flying unveiling the large claymore.

"Well damn." I muttered seeing one of the coolest claymores that weren't a five star but was still a potent weapon supposedly belonging to an adeptus. "This sword is called Rain Slasher." I said picking up the heavy claymore and began inspecting and just as thought the magic within the sword found me wanting.

The damned massive claymore for one had no edge nor a point for stabbing but the most unfortunate problem with the Rain Slasher was the fact that it buffed Hydro and Electro abilities by some thirty percent.

Obviously, I didnt have such abilities so this sword was likely to be mostly useless for a long while despite already enjoying the feeling of using my Aura to swing the massive heavy sword to shatter stones and even shatter a tree sending its splinters everywhere without needing to worry about shattering the much thinner blade my saber had.

"Jake you obviously love the sword so why you are looking so torn up." Lumine questioned and I explained how it buffed Electro and Hydro abilities which we certainly didnt have. "Ah I see... Maybe you can trade it to someone for a similar quality sword in Mondstadt."

I thought about her idea and couldn't deny that she was partially correct in that despite claymore users being a bit on the rarer side in Mondstadt the land did have the local economic tyrant in Diluc who would likely be interested in collecting this claymore even if it didnt fit his element simply due to its great history and its obviously supernatural presence.

"Why did this thing call out to my soul though." I muttered stabbing the claymore into the ground in confusion as my mind wandered. 'Was it the sword itself that called to me? Or do I not only have the Schnee Semblance and have my own Semblance that points me to treasures?" I thought but couldn't confirm that thought as I felt nothing towards Diluc's five-star Wolfs Gravestone or Eula's matching Frozen Pines Claymore.

Maybe the treasure needs to be unclaimed?

I realized the best place to test that theory would unironically be Liyue Harbor and around the Guyan Stone Forest where Morax/Zhongli sealed away many gods along with throwing their divine tools into the nearby ocean. If I could somehow sense treasures somehow that would be the perfect place to test if it needed to be an 'unowned' treasure.

"I am becoming a Skyrim adventurer." I grumbled thinking about how I had already delved into dungeons/domains to kill bandits/fatui and looted armor/clothes and even powerful magical weapons/Delusions from said dungeon. I then put the Rain Slasher into my space bag as we returned towards the Wangshu Inn.

-

When Jake and party shattered the stone releasing the Rain Slasher, a great deal of Adepti energy was released at the emergence of a once divine weapon and such a thing within the heart of Liyue could be felt from all directions.

From the western great mountains of Jueyun Karst, a great Crane even taller than a man stood at the edge of a cliff overlooking the heart of Liyue looking towards the source of powerful energy she felt burst outwards. "Lady Cloud Retainer you summoned me?" A voice softly spoke behind the regal crane.

"One has summoned you to go to the central marshes and discover the source of that outburst. It is an old power and for all this One knows Xiao may be dealing with it already, but either way he has been busy with the Rite of Descension approaching." Cloud Retainer spoke before she pointed with one of her wings embossed with glittering light towards where she felt the energy.

"Very well Cloud Retainer. What am I to do should it be an object not unearthed by those annoying treasure hoarders or should it be an old god or being sealed away by Lord Rex Lapis."

Cloud Retainer for a moment hummed in thought before she spoke softly. "Should it not be those annoying pests then either acquire the object so it can be resealed or put to use for the good of Liyue. If it's an entity escaping their seal, be prepared to kill it. Erosion has claimed the minds of practically all the gods and beings lord Morax has sealed away over the years. do not allow it to surprise you Shenhe."

The silver haired beauty nodded and then using her Cryo energy she leapt forward and began jumping between the large spires of mountains towards the energy she could ever so faintly feel in the distance.

-

Meanwhile as Shenhe was sent along another interested party were all meeting in the Jade Chamber having an important meeting before the Rite of Descension.

Sitting in a square formation around a large table was the figures of four beautiful women who practically collectively ran the nation of Liyue in their own ways.

The Tianquan, Ningguang the woman who ran the most powerful economic center in the world of Teyvat. She was a woman with long white hair and a heavily contrasting little ornament of red string hanging across her forehead while dressed in an ornamental Qipao that hugged her voluptuous curves.

The leader of the Millelith, the standing military of Liyue. Keqing a rather stern woman with purple hair and diamond shaped pupils that matched her purple hair and was wearing a dress with tights that offered her great mobility.

One of the lead members of the ministry of civil affairs, Yelan. A woman with short blue hair and teal colored slitted cat eyes and wearing a body glove that hugged her curvaceous body and most importantly an ornate pelt tailored into a coat that was hanging on Yelan's shoulders.

Lastly was the secretary of the all the major departments of Liyue's government's, Ganyu. A woman also wearing a hugging body glove suit with a ornate skirt that covered her lover half but the most noticeable attribute she had was the primarily black and red goat horns sprouting from her long blue haired head.

Ganyu being an accomplished Adepti and having lived for more than three thousand years old all of a sudden froze in the middle of the meeting abruptly losing track of a report she was reading as her eyes dilatated in surprise.

Her actions didnt go unnoticed as Yelan leaned forwards towards Ganyu obviously asking what was wrong. "Ganyu are you alright?" Yelan asked in surprise as Ganyu had always put forward a professional display unless she was just caught coming out of her daily naps when she leaves Liyue at noon to find a place in the countryside to almost randomly fall asleep.

Ganyu frowned and nodded as she spoke. "Yes... I felt the signature of an unknow Adepti or artifact unleashing its power. I was merely surprised; I apologize if I caused you all any duress."

Ningguang however didnt take the sign of some unknown power showing itself off with the Rite of Descension coming within little more than a month to be something of little import as she knew all too well the shadowy beings that skulked in the darkness of Liyue's old mountains. "Ganyu could you pinpoint and find whatever was unleashed?"

Ganyu nodded explaining she could certainly do so, but she would however be unable to attend to her work for a couple days in order for her to investigate.

"Go ahead and do so it's important that the Rite of Descension goes as planned. Having an old, deranged monster come out of the shadows unchecked will ruin the ceremony. Also, Yelan please put your spy network into motion to see if they can pick up any suspicious activity. especially from foreigners." Ningguang ordered Ganyu and Yelan.

Then Ningguang looked towards Keqing. "Have a contingent of Millelith clear out the neighboring Domains to make sure there isn't a monster build up... Should any 'rouge Fatui be found in any of your three's investigations purge them with extreme prejudice I will not have Liyue's sovereignty challenged within its very lands with foreign soldiers walking around uncontested."

The other three women nodded leaving the meeting room to begin their new tasks as Ningguang was left in the meeting room alone with her hands folded in front of her chest atop the table as she thought of the future.
