Chapter 66 - Chapter 60 Josh's second chapter

After getting the girls up and waking Paimon from her dead sleep after she stuffed herself into a minor food coma, we joined in the living room where Yelan had been apparently reading a book or something as she was waiting for us.

"Huh, you guys didn't make me wait for my mid-day nap... A pity." Yelan muttered at the end as she stood up and I only slightly heard Lumine tsked as she noticed how the other woman was like six to eight inches taller than her with her heels. "Well let's go to the business district so we can pick up my companion," Yelan spoke as we all followed her out of my house and I made sure to securely lock it up as we left.

As we were making our way to pick up Yelan's mystery helper Eula hung back as Paimon brought Lumine to bug Yelan as she led us through the streets of Liyue.

"Do you know what this Primal Geovishap is capable of? I know of the lesser ones that highly and I mean extremely rarely come into Mondstadt by bypassing the Dragon Spine Mountain but none of the larger variants ever survived the travel under the rivers to get past the mountains that separate Mondstadt and Liyue." Eula explained and I noticed how Lumine had turned an ear towards us as Yelan allowed me to explain.

"Late-stage Geovishaps and in particular the alpha ones have almost human-level intelligences with the king of them all having been Rex Lapis's partner similar to how Dvalin was the partner of Barbatos... The Primals have the innate ability to manipulate all forms of elemental energy in various ways and above all else they have obscenely dense scales that have been hardened and tempered by digging underground through bedrock along with being tempered by the leylines so they are resistant to elemental attacks as well." I spoke with Yelan actually looking back at me in surprise.

"Hmm I didn't know about the elemental resistance actually... But with them growing and sleeping in the leylines for years at a time it's not surprising they cultivate a sort of resistance to the elemental energies that fill the leylines." Yelan confirmed while humming in thought.

Honestly, with Liyue being focused on ancient Chinese culture it made sense to their would-be cultivation nonsense in the background but then again, all the Adepti were basically cultivators with how they lived up in the mountains and opened up pocket dimensions so they could avoid the world enforced erosion and ensure their immortality. To say nothing of how they also had their disciples in Ganyu and Shenhe hunting and eating medicinal herbs also pushed the stereotype.

Actually, could I make some kind of bootleg cultivation system? I mean there was literally plenty of ambient magical/elemental energies filling the air. I need to talk to Ganyu/Shenhe or even Cloud Retainer their master and mother figure if I can do anything about such a thing.

So filled were my thoughts as I envisioned trying to recreate the Doulou Dalu cultivation system using my summons as my spirits rang that I almost missed Yelan pivoting as she turned into an alley making Lumine and Paimon who were walking beside her cry out as they left Yelan behind who was now dashing down the alleyway. towards someone.

"Jake stop him!" I heard Yelan yell as I followed her at a jog into the alley I looked past her and couldn't help but almost gasp at the sight of the bandaged form of a Fatui sharpshooter literally armed with one of their long rifles trying to run away from Yelan by hopping against the buildings and bouncing off with their augmented bodies.

I reached forward and clenched my fist as I activated my Anemo energy and the Fatui sharpshooter hovered in the middle of the air and clawing at his throat as I had retracted all the air around his head so I could hold the man by his waist and legs.

"Hmph, I thought we cleaned up the rest of the damned rats!" Yelan all but spat as she strutted towards the Fatui agent I slowly lowered to her level and then I allowed him breathe as the green energy surrounding him disappeared dropping the now panting man onto the floor in a twitching heap.

"For all we know, he could be a Golden Bank employee you didn't catch and not a new arrival." I threw out and Yelan snorted shaking her head.

"I personally dealt with the troublesome elements within the bank and these sharpshooters cannot merely just sneak into Liyue as their augmentations ruin their skin in ways that anyone can recognize thus, they wear the bandages," Yelan explained before sighing as she kicked the Fatui agent in the jaw to knock him out.

"Ok look I obviously need to deal with this... So, Jake please create a Ruin Guard to publicly carry this man to the detention center while I shadow and look for people who freak out at the sight." Yelan spoke with a saccharine smile, and I shrugged as a Schnee glyph formed beside me and the large Ruin Guard stepped out of the glyph and picked up the man who was bound up in Yelan's magical threads.

"Will making such a loud statement bring us issues?" Lumine asked and Yelan snickered nodding.

"I mean sure the first day after you arrive, you snag and publicly drag the Fatui agent towards the detention center where he will be squeezed for information and then dealt with? Yeah of course any Fatui agents are going to be pissed. But this is Liyue it's not like a Harbinger is going to pop up in the middle of nowhere." Yelan said and I just deadpanned at her.

"Yeah, just like how three Fatui harbingers wouldn't dare to attack Mondstadt and its Archon on the very fucking front door of his church and next door to the country's literal army base of a miniature castle?" I said sarcastically leaving Yelan to raise a hand before dropping it as she had literally no other response.

"Uhm Paimon thinks we should show those Fatui jerks what's what! But uh yeah, he needs to go and it's not like we can let him go, right guys?" Paimon actually wisely pointed out.

We already found the dog crap in the living room as it were... It's not like we could just leave it there.

"Or he can be executed here and now before he can cause any issues." Eula blandly offered and yeah it was plain to all that Eula more than ever hated the Fatui with how they had led to her getting banished from Mondstadt.

"No, he can be used to find out if he has any friends... So please Jake don't have the Ruin Guard pinch him." Yelan added dryly as she noticed how conveniently placed the Fatui agent was with his chest in the claws of the Ruin Guard.

I looked at Lumine and she just sighed. "Jake, I don't mind going along but this could bring trouble so it's up to you I guess."

"What about Paimon's feelings?!" Paimon stomped in the air frustrated as we didn't directly ask her for her opinion, so I just blew out some air as I turned to Yelan.

"Fine we will go with your plan but if a Harbinger attacks us in the middle of the city... Well just remember the damage caused in Mondstadt." I said blandly as I wasn't going to just roll over and die if a Harbinger decided to gank me in the middle of the city. No, it was going to be a messy affair in any case.

"Let's go," I said with my pleasant mood at landing Liyue ended as the Ruin Guard stomped beside me as we emerged into the main streets of Liyue and the early morning crowd froze as they watched my Ruin Grader carrying an enemy of the state Fatui agent through the city openly.

A couple minutes later as we headed towards the business district, we were obviously stopped by the Millelith the Liyue military and police force.

"Halt!!! What in the world are you doing having a monster walk the streets of... Is that a Fatui agent?!" The guard asked spitefully, and I blinked several times as I actually recognized the dude... He was one of the Millelith who fought the fatui around Wangshu Inn.

"Yes, sir this is a Fatui agent I captured while we were going to register at the Liyue adventure guild for some commissions," I spoke proudly but the squad leader of the guards was silent, and I saw the man's grip on his spear tighten so I coughed loudly.

"Ah, I apologize... But a sharpshooter gunned down my grandfather who was fleeing his fields in Northern Liyue during the raids north of Wangshu Inn... I can't help but wonder if he was the one." The man softly spoke and one of his men nudged him and the squad captain took a deep breath.

"In any case please dismiss or remove your monster from the premises. We will be escorting the prisoner and the Millelith would highly appreciate your cooperation in detailing where you found him the situation in which you captured him and if he said anything." Ah, lovely paperwork...

"Very well let's get going to the detention center." I said making the Ruin Guard disappear into motes of light and drop the Fatui agent onto the ground before I very firmly nudged him over to the guards with a kick.
