Chereads / Reality Of Reincarnation / Chapter 2 - One Small Step Towards power

Chapter 2 - One Small Step Towards power

It had already been a month since my reincarnation, and I've come to understand that learning a language from pure scratch is a lot harder than I had first thought.

The blindness wasn't helping in any way either.

However, with the help of what I assume is my mother, I have learned a few words here and there.

I also found the answer to something that had been making the back of my neck itchy since the first day I arrived in this world.

This wasn't earth, probably not even close.

I had a checkup, probably for my blindness, but instead of being put asleep or poked around. someone injected what felt like pure dopamine throughout me.

The feeling was mostly focused around my eyes before slowly leaving my body. Being the non-mystical earthling I was, it took me a while to realize that it must have been magic in my eyes.

Although I wasn't certain, just the chance made my palms sweat.

Other than that this past month had been simple, I ate, I listened, I shitted and I slept.

Although my simple life did have someone in it.

A woman who had been taking care of me every day.

I still didn't know her name or whether she was my mother or not, but her voice out of the countless people who had passed by was the only one I remembered.

She would always come to my room 30 minutes after I had woken up and stay till I had fallen asleep again. Although kind, it was stressful knowing her presence was near me almost all times of the day.

But I was grateful, as she was my only source of genuine entertainment.

But there was something I was curious about.

Turning my head to the right and then to the left, I decided to do a test...

-??? POV-

It had been a month and some change since my son's birth. As usual, I was sitting on the couch studying my "comprehension of mana" booklet while keeping one eye on Oswin.

Oswin was a perfect child in my eyes; he rarely cried and always ate whatever I had given him.

He also seemed extra perceptive whenever I spoke.

*flip*

However, just because Oswin brought me no problems directly, he has caused my and lord Arquitius's relationship to falter slightly.

After having Oswin checked multiple times by medical mages, the mages deemed that he was born blind.

With all the other young lords and lordess being born and showing tremendous talent before 10...

*Sigh* my baby would surely have a hard time in the future.

*flip*

'i also have a night appointment with the lord today' if this next child isn't good enough, it would be my e-.

Without notice, I heard crying snapping me out of my thoughts. I quickly stood and walked toward the baby crib. Looking inside, I saw something that subtly surprised me. Oswin was crying.

I know I shouldn't be surprised but if he were hungry or needed to go to the bathroom, he would make different sounds, but he had never cried.

Not knowing what to do, I picked him up and started cuddling him.

"There their child I'm right here," I said whilst attempting to calm him down.

Not seeing any changes In his mood, I quickly thought the worst and injected mana to see if there was something wrong with him, but surprisingly he had stopped crying altogether.

Doing a quick examination of his body I was relieved to find nothing wrong.

"Phewww you scared me there Os" putting him back in his crib while watching him smile, I went back to my couch and continued studying.

*flip*

'Should I get him a Teddy?'

-Oswin POV-

I was certain now. There was magic in this world.

'There it was again, that feeling, the warmth.' Whether it was magic or chakra or ki, I couldn't care. But it was terrific.

The feeling of pure power coursing through your body wasn't something one could explain, 'this is what I want. This feeling.'

I had felt this power two times now, But this time felt more primal with fewer complications.

I was never too big into magic or fantasy in my past life, but even I knew the basics.

Magic was like a muscle; the more you used it, the bigger and stronger it would get, right?

So all I had to do to become a renowned genius was to start practicing young. The only problem was... how?

---------------------------------------

Timeskip: 9 months

I've learned a lot in these past 10 months.

The language was becoming more and more of a secondary issue as days passed.

I could understand most conversations if I put my attention on them.

but I could care less.

Recently I feel as if I've been having a breakthrough in my magic.

I've slightly expressed my like for magic to my mother, Dalia Arquitius; and she has been helping me by injecting mana into my body.

'My cuteness really did wonders for my acting skills.'

I can feel the mana in the air, no, deeper.

I could feel the mana everywhere.

But I just couldn't grab it.

So I'm going to find out how to grab it, hopefully without exposing the fact I'm a 20-year-old man in a baby's body.

Standing up from my crib I listened for anybody nearby, not hearing anybody I quickly dropped my blanket and pillow on the floor.

Grabbing ahold of the bars on my crib I jumped over the fences surrounding me.

Or more accurately I took 5 minutes climbing down.

Over the past 9 months, I had met many people, but the only people that came to mind when I think of magic are three people: my mother Dalia, the butler Emmanuel and my father.

I wasn't certain any of them would help me with my problem, some I downright didn't even know if they could use magic.

Picking up my blanket off the floor I wrapped it around my shoulders and crawled towards the door.

Quietly putting my ear against the door and listening I heard nothing.

Not the sounds of breathing nor the sound of walking.

Taking my blanket off my shoulder I threw it towards the door hopefully getting a grip of the handle and opening it.

*throw* *miss*

*throw* *miss*

*throw* *click* 'cha ching'

Grabbing ahold of the door I slowly open it looking outside to the right, seeing the coast clear I grab my blanket, wrap it around my shoulders and close the door.

"is ********** alright master Oswin?"

Jumping and looking to my left I almost had a heart attack from who it was. I could recognize that voice from anywhere, it was Emmanuel, my family butler.

He was tall and big like a mountain; atleast that's what his presence felt like, even in my small baby body, I could tell this wasn't someone you should mess with.

His hair was all cleanly slicked back with not a strand out of place, silver glasses that hung right on the edge of his nose, And a grey suit which only made him look more regal.

'wait how did I just see him?' however, looking in his direction, everything was black again.

'weird...'

"master Oswin, do you need to potty?" he spoke again, in a slightly chillier tone.

"no mister" I replied quickly with a big smile and ran (crawled) away.

After turning a corner I caught my breath and took a quick peak around only to find my door closed and Emmanuel was gone.

'dammit I should have asked him' I thought while dragging my blanket along the long corridors.

'I'll ask him next time'

----------------------------------------

-Emmanuel POV-

Oswin had come out of his room today, through some questionable means too.

Never had I thought I would have the privilege to see an Arquitius child disgracefully climb out of a baby crib.

But something was... odd, he was in a rush, assuming a 9-month child in a rush would be looking for a bathroom; I asked so, but he said no.

whether he's lying or not, I'm intrigued.

Sinking into the ground I decided I'd put some of my attention on the child.

----------------------------------------

I had been walking for a while now and I was starting to hear plenty of footsteps, quick, nimble and quiet.

Probably the maids, some came close enough for me to smell them but didn't even say a word.

I knew a little of my family's history, we're fighters. But damn I'm only 9 months old ask me if I'm okay.

'better for me' I scoffed mentally.

walking down the same corridor I heard a woman singing, only one person I know could sing so beautifully, my mother and my possible method of breaking through.

Following the sound of singing, I found myself in what was probably a kitchen, the smell of fresh bread and luxury food made me assume so.

Walking deeper into the kitchen and following the sound, I saw her.

She was sitting on the countertop singing to an audience of maids, their quick breathing and hushed words showing the joy they were feeling.

But what caught my attention was my mother, it was my first time seeing her.

She had short black hair and deep black eyes. Her pale skin made every minute Facial feature of hers stand out even more.

She looked in my direction, at my face, into my eyes. And for a second I thought I had seen the endless stars one would see in the galaxy.

Before it, all quickly faded to darkness.

"Oswin! What are you doing in the kitchen? Don't you know it's dangerous?" she exclaimed while quickly running and grabbing me in her arms.

"Sorry Mommy," I said sadly while hiding my smile in her elbow.

"it's ok Os, did you need something? why'd you come to the kitchen?" she asked questioningly while stroking my black hair.

"Actshully Mommy I have a question," I said turning to look her in the eyes.

"hmmm, Everyone leave! So what is it honey" she said with a warm tone in her voice.
