The place where Hai Dongyang proposed to exchange hostages was in a valley, the northernmost part of the Golden Triangle. It was closest to China, and a river passed through the valley.
Nangong Jue personally led the team and escorted Hai Chao to the designated location.
However, Hai Dongyang was nowhere to be seen.
