Thump thump! Luci did not know how he should react. That.. Why did he say that he was looking forward to it? He hated his mother.. Up To the limit that he would rather die than spending time with her.
Then why did he accept her offer? No! He shook his head as he saw his mother talking in the distance with a knight that seemed to be pushing her.
His expressions were not respectful towards his mother that made him wonder what they were talking about. He was wearing the uniform of the central palace. Could it be that his father was harassing his mother again?
Truly his family was in a mess. He wanted to stand up and listen to them but the head maid of his mother was making sure that he would not be able to move even an inch.
Finally the knight turned to look at him and he flinched. The gaze was too cold even for those who have lived a life already.
His mother sent him off and started walking towards him with a strained smile on her face.
"You are looking worried mother." he whispered as he felt that her face was pale. And she would smash the table any moment.
He was amazed at how she had learned to control her emotions. If his father had sent a knight to chide her, she would have already been throwing a tantrum and shouting at maids to relieve her anger.
"There is nothing of that sort. Your father had invited us for dinner and I told him that I am not feeling well to meet him but he had pressed that you and Lennox would go and join him.
An envoy from the other empire is coming and it is a customary dinner where he wants to show off his sons." she scoffed. Anger and hatred was clear in her eyes as if she was suffering from a bitter memory.
His memories of the time when he was 5 was hazy. Therefore he was not sure what had happened and had he attended any kind of meeting but he could not let this chance go.
His mother was important but he was able to get the grace of his father, he would be stronger to save everyone around him.
"When is that dinner, mother?" she tilted her head and stared at him as if she was not pleased with his question.
"Tomorrow night, but he wanted to meet you tonight to guide you on your behavior." He could feel the pressure she had used in speaking as if she would go berserk with this thought and kill his father.
"If he would ask you, tell him that I am too sick and need rest. That is why I am planning to go to the summer palace for the next two days." he frowned. He had thought that his mother was planning to go with him and Len.
Was she going so far just to not attend a dinner with his father? In the past, she used to be desperate to meet his father and dance with joy when she came to know that she would get two days to spend with his father. Then why was she behaving like he had some contagious disease.
"Al.. right. Then I shall be going. Since i have to ask brother Len to accompany me too.
Umm, not that I like him. It is his majesty's order after all." he panicked as he realized that he had shown affection for his brother by mistake but she just waved her hands in the air to dismiss him.
"Just go!" he nodded and ran away from there while followed by his maids as if he had finally got freedom from the prison.
Katherine continued to stare at his leaving figure and sighed. He still did not know how to hide his feelings. If only, she could tell him that she had learnt her lesson and was longing for his love now.
She sighed as she closed her eyes. She was trying so hard to stay away from those cold men but these days he was using one reason or another to call for her.
Why so?
And that envoy! She did not want to meet them at all. She remembered that instead of an envoy the crown prince of the other empire decided to visit them. She was so happy that she was going to have dinner with Chris and even represent the empire as the empress that she had done her best for.
But when she had reached there, the man had behaved brazenly and even tried to show advancement towards her but her husband played blind eyes to it.
She was so embarrassed and when she tried to confront Chris later, he blamed her that it was her fault. Not only that he told her that if she wanted to leave the empire with that prince then he did not mind. He would not try to stop her!
The words had shook her to the core. She had been in shambles because her husband was asking her to go away with another man who was looking at her indecently.
That was when she realized that she was nothing but a piece of decoration for her husband who would not think twice before giving it away for his profit.
Since then she had hated him. And their relationship was strained miserably. He had started to torment her for her unwillingness to leave the empire and called her greedy!
"In this life, I am not going to let you play with me again! My love for you has died and only hatred has remained."
