Ranz summoned his window screen to find the log out option. To log out for now and wait till the labyrinth event is finished. That was the only safe option he had right now.

But, his finger stopped just above the log-out button. He thought it would be a shame if he retreated now; for sure for the rest of his life he wouldn't be able to overcome his fear of those elements. He wouldn't be able to move forward.
Even just inside the game, he wants to defeat his fears. This was a very good opportunity for him to do that.
