Chapter 22 - Magic Furnace

When Ranz placed back the knife in its original place, he noticed in his stats the word Assassin in his class had disappeared. But there was an unbelievable thing he noticed; the skills remained. However, one of them grayed out. It means unusable without the knife equipment.

But although one of them grayed out, he noticed that one remained usable. It means, that even without the knife in his hand, he could use it.

'My talent… is truly magnificent!' He exclaimed in his mind.

The name of the skill was [Rush-Dash]. According to its description, it was a second skill that an assassin practitioner could learn when the practitioner reaches level 10. It grants the user the ability to move in an instant for at most a 10 steps distance from his original position towards the designated location. It has a 5 seconds cooldown and consumes stamina every time the practitioner uses the skill.

'So it seems this [Rush-Dash] skill is an All-class type skill that can be used in all classes. What makes this talent of mine special is not because I can use skills from other classes, but because I don't need to buy a very expensive skill book just to learn this kind of skill. I can learn them right away just by touching the equipment they belong to. On top of that, I can even use any type of weapon without restriction.'

Ranz was so looking forward to learning more about his talent.

Next, he picked the bow. Again, a new class appeared in his class status. Then two new skills were added to his skill list.

The same as the knife, after placing back the bow, one skill grayed out and one remained usable.

'It seems like an attack-type skill will grey out if I'm not holding the exact weapon for it. Well, it only means that it isn't an all-class type skill, but for a specific class only.'

Ranz rolled his eyes to the other items on display. Unfortunately, aside from knives and bows, he could not find another type of weapon.

From the corner of his eyes, he noticed something that piqued his interest.

"What is that?" He pointed to an object that looked like a box made of stone and was slightly vertically rectangular.

"Ah, that? That's a . You can use it to create Common-tier weapons."

Ranz's eyes glistened slightly at what was heard. 'This is what I need!' He exclaimed in his mind after hearing what the vendor had said.

"Can you tell me how to use that?"

The vendor looked at him before nodding slightly. Ranz was secretly impressed with the NPC of this game. He didn't think that the NPCs here really acted like real people.

"First of all, ya need enough materials."

"Ah, do you mean with materials are the drops of monsters?"

"Yes, sir Traveler. Ya get materials from killing monsters. Look at this," the vendor pointed to the items in front of him.

"Are those cards?" Ranz asked when he saw the item the vendor pointed to.

"These are not just ordinary cards," after saying this, the vendor took one and handed it to him.

Ranz accepted it. He saw the green side of the card. However, that was not the very reason why the vendor handed him the card which was also understood by Ranz.

"That card is called the or originally known as . You need that if you want to make a weapon. It shows what kind of weapon the card can make and what materials are needed to make the weapon."

Just as the vendor said, Ranz saw the picture of the weapon. And below the picture could be seen the list of materials needed to build the weapons. There was also the name of the weapon in it.

"I see. So just that...?"

It was not covered by his knowledge, so Ranz was very grateful to this good vendor.

'It seems very easy to craft as long as there is enough material.'

"Maybe ya thought it was just easy?" The vendor said suddenly that almost stunned him. Ranz wondered if he was really talking to an NPC. He wondered how this NPC guessed what he was thinking.

Ranz nodded slightly with a wry smile.

Seeing his nod, the vendor next said, "Well. That's where ya go wrong, sir Traveler."

Ranz's face frowned slightly under the cloth-made hood. "Is there anything else needed?" He asked.

The vendor revealed a faint smile at him and in no hurry, he told him the reason. "For ya to craft the item on the card, ya need this tool." The vendor then pointed back to the .

Ranz nodded. This was really their topic before the conversation veered to . He looked at the price of the and he saw that its price was about 10,000 crownies. Sad to say, right now, he doesn't have that much money.

'So, this is what he meant,' Ranz guessed.

But, unbeknownst to Ranz, there seems to be another reason why the vendor said he was mistaken if he thought it was easy to craft the .

The vendor continued saying, "But even if ya have such a tool, you can't use it if ya don't have this."

From under his robe, he took something from it. Then he brought his palm to the front to show what he was holding. Ranz saw an object.

"Bronze and silver badge?" That's what Ranz saw in the vendor's hand. He was holding two rectangular badges. One of them with a logo of a hammer over an anvil.

"Yes. You may also call these as . Only smith practitioners with a bronze badge or higher can operate this ."

"Ah, so that's why... So even if I buy it, I can't use it either…" Ranz said admittedly.

"That's right. But rest assured. If ya need help crafting your materials into a weapon, I'm here. I'll take care of it. The fee is cheap. Only about 2,000 cowries every labor. Even though I am just a humble Bronze Rank Smith, I can assure ya that you will not regret my service. "

Ranz was secretly impressed with this NPC's sales talk skills.

'Coming here seems to be the right decision as I learned a lot.'

Nonetheless, there were two badges in the vendor's hand. One was the . And the other, based on its appearance, it looked like he was not only a Smith Practitioner but also a Merchant Practitioner. Moreover, since his merchant badge was silver, hence he was a Silver Rank Merchant.

"Is that so? By the way, can I ask how to get a smith apprenticeship badge? "

"Hmm… if ya want to be a Smith Practitioner, you need to find a Master Rank Smith first. Then, apply to him as an apprentice smith."

"Okay. I'll remember that…" after saying it, Ranz looked at the . Then, he suddenly exclaimed, "This!"

He saw a with the name Peculiar Bone Sword in it. The requirements needed to craft the item were Beast Bone x5, Adult Mad Lizard Big Bone x1, and Common-Tier Crafting Bead x1.

"How much is this?" He asked.
