'This must be how it felt like,' I thought bitterly as the dust cleared, and I remained conscious for the whole duration of the building crumbling to dust.
'This must be how it felt like when Winter died.'
A building crashed down on her while trying to save someone else. Although, I reckon it was much worse than what had just happened.
Coughing out the dust that settled in my throat, I waited for the surroundings to clear.
"Anyone?" I croaked, hoping I wouldn't be the lone survivor.
Another cough came from the surroundings. Two more came from different directions.
When the dust cleared, I counted heads and let out a sigh of relief.
"Ysabel?" I called out. A figure to my right raised a hand.
"Elise is fine," Ysabel coughed. "Come and get here, though."
With a grunt, I pushed the thin layer from the roof that caved in and landed on my feet, and got up. I then shook my head, dusting off the dirt from my hair.
