Queen clapped her hands, seizing the attention of everyone in the room. We had starved ourselves enough, but the ladies took one bread each and no more.
I can understand how wary they were. They had been restless since last night. So was I.
"Now that everyone is here, I would like to suggest a game."
Fifi inched closer to me.
"I know what you're thinking," I whispered before she could say anything. "And yes, I won't ever drop my guard."
"Good."
Fifi then waited alongside me. We stared at Queen, anticipating the continuation of what she had started.
"Good," Queen stated, her voice dropping to a sultry whisper. "I got your undivided attention."
I maintained a stoic expression, sensing Queen's gaze lingering on me.
"I admire your enthusiasm for the game," Queen continued. All eyes were on her, and I would bet all ears as well. 'Now, now, I'm glad you all had your fill."
