Just like the first, I had trouble getting my lungs to work properly as soon as I was thrown out of the trial.
Gasping, I planted my hand firmly on solid ground, my knees wobbled, and my head spun. But at the very least, I wasn't soaked from head to foot and shivering like a wet monkey.
With my heart pounding and suffering the after-effects of the recent trial, my body caved into the demand to lie for now.
I stared at the skies, which felt too far away; my chest rose and fell. A little while later, a silhouette hovered above, blocking the little ray of sunshine I was trying to absorb.
Elise's red hair appeared to be on fire as she stood against the bright light. It took a few seconds before my vision adjusted and registered the smirk curved on her lips.
"Welcome back," she greeted cheerfully. I scoffed.
"I wonder how it feels like to simply wait for my return and not even worry if I come back dead or alive."
