I gasped again, forcing my eyes open, and inhaled a lungful of air like I had been deprived of it.
I looked at my surroundings, grateful to be back in the present. But Bane was still too close to me.
I backed away, blinking and trying to understand what just happened.
"Exo! Are you alright?"
Bane eyed me; she didn't seem like the same person I had met in that domain.
"Was that you?"
Bane took a deep breath and shook her head.
"I had a twin. But she was weak. Hence, my superior genes swallowed her. Now she lives inside of me. It's what we call a domain within a body."
I whistled.
"She's really something."
Bane pursed her lips.
"Did she promise you anything?"
I scoffed, shaking my head.
"Ann alliance," I admitted, keeping the sleeping together to myself. Unless they communicate with each other, then that secret should be safe.
