Even though Dorax let Winter go, there was no promise that he won't come after her. He didn't look like the man who would easily give up on his woman.

"Don't look back," Winter warned. I immediately understood what she meant. Footsteps echoed behind us, and the ominous presence of several men confirmed my suspicion.

Maybe Dorax was thinking that he could easily grab Winter and take her back because I was just a kid.
