The Comrades trailed after their leader and the girl, having picked up with the strand of her red hair at the side of the road her scent. The scent guided them through the woods and out. They saw a heap and didn't need to open it to know that it was a covered barf.
The meat seller and woods. They knew from the places, that their leader had eaten raw and bloody meat, and the maid had taken it as an uncomely view. Humans. They are prone and weak. Soft hearted. The Comrades hissed in unison and leaped into the bridge that took them into the other woods.
In the woods, they ran, leaping on the trees and branches they found to be the easiest way. The slope did not hinder the movements as they raced it down like a four-legged animals. They continued, running into the mist and vanquishing past the hands that crawled like twines around them. Nothing could undermine them. They didn't need to check every hilltop or high tree for hints of their leader. The scent took them through the mist and to the end where the rocks barricaded them.

Caroline and Edgar reached a little stall at the entrance of the village, Regima. Regima, as to what the wooden board at the gateway of the village said.
The fresh bread they sold with fried fish got her salivating the moment she sniffed them in the air. As they drew near to the stall, Caroline heard her stomach grumble again.
" How much is a loaf? ".Edgar asked the seller.
" Four copper coins ".
" And the fried fish? ".
" A bronze for a fry and three for five fries ".
" Bring three loaves and five fishes ".
The seller packed their items and Edgar paid the woman. It took Caroline all her might to not drag the bag from Edgar. She felt light in her head and weak in the bones yet the ' Almighty ' Edgar Shears walked gracefully with her meal in his hand.
For days she has gone without eating with the Elvins, however, she wasn't bleeding and wasn't fighting with hands or poking somewhere. She was not jumping or leaping. She was quiet, she recollected. Talking when she was asked and speaking when it was right. Her energy was reserved.
They got to a cavern and let themselves. A woman, almond skinned came to them. Her structure, petite and fat with plump cheeks and dates colored hair. Not to forget her brows that looked like it was knotted together. Caroline would have laughed if she had the energy to. She greeted the woman and moved to her seat.
Caroline noticed the familiarity with the way Edgar greeted the woman. He gave the package and went to sit with the woman on a bench.
Caro, devoured the meal like a hungry wolf. The length of the bread was the length of a matured man's arm and the fish, the size of the middle finger Her stomach cried happily as she finished the first loaf and reached for the second.
Into the second loaf, she heard whispers, tiny whispers that carried her district's name. Her ears gravitated as she removed the head of the fish and tucked the other part into the bread.
" I heard the vampires evaded them while they feasted and killed everyone ". Caroline heard a woman say as she partially buried herself in her meal. She heard a sigh after the woman's words and looked up from her meal to see a group of three women and a man.
" The market square was burnt and houses too ". The woman continued to say and Caroline listened more.
She did not get to see what happened to the district left for the smoke that came out of the house and the ashes that teemed the air. It was better that way. That she didn't see the body of her Master. She wouldn't be able to bear the sight. She thought.
Her Master was nice, the nicest she had seen. At least when he was there she was allowed a three-square meal. She was maltreated by his wife and daughter much in his absence.
" You heard alone, I saw it. I passed over the district this morning and the place was like a butchery. I saw bodies on the streets, heads were separated from some while those not beheaded were with two piercings on the neck ".
Caroline felt her stomach churn and the food she ate roll to her throat, at the same time she heard Edgar excuse himself from the woman.
" You wouldn't dare. My money cannot go to waste ". She felt his lips on her ear. A gasp left her lips and the whole thing surging forward went back. A sweet sensation skated down her spine, gathering fluid in her pant. She heard him chuckle and looked at him enraged and confused. What was that?.
" Hmmm. You are quite interesting, Caro ". He said as he drank from the cup in his hand.
Caroline looked at him, stupefied. He encroached into her space and made her body react strangely but yet he sat, sipping off his cup, totally unfazed.
" An untouched maiden at 18. Pretty Interesting. Come to me and I will teach you the way of life ". He chuckled at the end of his words.
So that was what he was trying to do. He was sedu...
" There is nothing wrong with being a virgin. It is about Principles and moral training ". She eyed him and continue with her meal. The cold fish now tasted bitter on her tongue.
" It is about who caught your attention. About the man.... ".
" I forbid you from saying such things, Edgar. I want to eat my food in peace ". She said, incensed at his actions and more at his words.
Edgar chuckled again with his eyes on her. He saw the life in her eyes and felt the energy in her words. She was back again. That refuting part of her and he loved it.
