The guards had a marching and changing routine which left no blind spots, plus the video cameras, guard dogs and even trained wolves and bears, but to the trained eye, there were some major flaws:
1st, the bears, big and powerful beasts, wonderful sense of smell and fast as well, yet these strengths were also their weaknesses. They were powerful and wild animals, difficult to train, so the bears which were ready to be used in the army were few and could go on rampage when irritated especially attacking their captors.
2nd, the wolves. They have the same strengths as the bears though they're a lot weaker, they make up for that in smarts, agility and teamwork though, teamwork with other wolves, they could also easily attack their owners if they had a good enough reason to, like one of their comrades was hurt by them.
3rd, dogs. Loyal, fast, strong, smart and easy to train, their relationship goes deeper with their owners than the other two, but they aren't as brave as them. Easily scared by loud sounds and the wolves' and bears' presence, their attention will be limited, causing the bears and wolves to rampage will easily get rid of the dogs.
4th, humans. The guards were five at every post, two watching, two for exchange and one hidden for back up. They also were equipped with sophisticated and powerful weapons to guard me. Well, they barely move, this makes them bored and thus, easily distracted and irritated, it also stiffens the muscles in their bodies, causing them to lose their flexibility.
Their grounds also had many flaws which I used to my advantage, I came up with a plan.
The guards had been motionless for hours and were frustrated yet four hours remained for a shift change, they agreed to share the duties where one will sleep, while the other watches.
I disrupted that sleep exchange which made them end up fighting each other, then I escaped.
I then unleashed the beasts, I opened the bear cages and they attacked everyone, keeping the dogs and wolves at bay, then I stole a car and left.
I drove through the rough terrain till the car broke down then I just ran as fast as I could, I knew it could easily take months before I reached the border but I still ran.
Sixteen days after I left, I was sitting on an escarpment staring at my failure... The war had been going for twelve days. A tear fell down my cheek as I heard the siren; The emperor was dead.
The war had gone on for six years continued by my mother, now it was my turn...
My army at my back, my enemy at my front, the Wathambans had taken everything from me; my father, mother, half my people, the war zone was completely destroyed, I made an emotional decision; peace, I was not going to lose my best friend as well."
"And so since then our lands have had peace",The empress said.
"And that is why you named me Luna after my great great great grandfather's best friend, is that not right mother?", Her three year old asked.
"Yes my darling."
"Okay Luna I think it is time for you to sleep", The emperor said.
"Good night father and mother"
"Good night my darling.", Her mother said.
Luna was woken up by screams, she was hyperventilating as she stared at the dark figure at the doorway, she wanted to scream as it quickly closed the distance between them the bright moonlight showed the stranger's identity;
"Mother!"
"Darling!"
Her mother picked her up and followed her father out of the palace. A fair muscular man blocked the doorway, wielding a machete.
"Go I'll hold him off", The Emperor said.
The Empress hesitated.
"Go!"
She began to run. Luna was horrified, fire destroying everything she knew, fair soldiers slaughtering people, she was in shock, then her mother screamed sharply as she fell to the ground. She wasn't moving.
"Mother, mother wake up! Please!"
A fair man stood not far from her with hate in his brown eyes, Luna could run but didn't want to leave her mother.
He rose his machete and struck...
Luna screamed as her father saved her and killed the man.
Luna didn't understand why the man fell asleep so quickly or why her father cried as he looked at her mother but she ended up crying too.
He took her to a cave and told her to hide, she didn't want him to leave and begged.
"I'm sorry Luna."
He gave her to a guard and left, leading the army to drive out the invaders.
Luna could not sleep, the fair men kept appearing in her nightmares. Her father came back and picked her up.
"Father, where's mother?"
"I'm sorry Luna, she's gone."
A tear fell down his cheek, she still didn't comprehend.
"Your majesty, we have chased the Saggezian soldiers out, should we follow?", A guard asked.
"Let them go."
"But your majesty how will we get them back for what they have done?"
He looked at his beautiful daughter who was finally asleep, then said, "Leave that to my daughter..."
