Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 Lily's stats

[The system can plunder anything dropped from anything and improve it for the host to assimilate. Be it Stats, Skills, essences, bloodlines, Transformations, Titles and more]

[All things available can be plundered]

[Attribute orb detected. Do you wish to plunder?

The cold, mechanical female voice sounded once again in his ears, causing Ethan's eyes to widen.

"Shit! It's that same voice!" Ethan exclaimed as he remembered that he had heard this voice earlier before his sight returned to him.

His mind was a bit foggy as he quickly shook his head. What the hell was up with today? So many crazy things happening.

[You have unread messages!]

Ethan looked up without thinking and the words floating in the air.

As soon as he focused on it, the barrage of notifications he had ignored earlier came flying back.

[Assimilation successful]

[Completion requirements met]

[Reincarnation successful. Welcome, Host]

[You have travelled back from The future and are starting anew. You have received the Plundering System]

"Why does this sound like the voice in the game?" Ethan wondered when he realized that the voice sounded far too familiar.

As a professional gamer, Ethan was surprisingly very calm in the face of such a situation. He used his mind and skimmed through the messages, just like the way he usually would when he played Reverb.

This was completely instinctive.

[System Function: Due to your absence of sight which prevents you from seeing the system, you have obtained temporary ability, Translucence]

[Effect: Enables you to see the system status and flow of energy around you. As the name implies, in front of this skill, the majority of the world's secrets lay bare before you. There is almost nothing that you cannot see through or find information about. Can also serve as a pinpoint to judge another living being attributes, no matter how strong they are]

[Cost of usage: Exhausts 1 point of perception every five minute]

[Side Effects: Mental Exhaustion]

[Ability Timeframe: Temporary/ Unknown]

"Did I just get a system like from the game in real life? It's somewhat.... Unexpected". Ethan said inwardly as he gazed all around the room. This definitely wasn't his expensive mansion in the upper areas of green will city, but his past life apartment.

Now, however, Ethan was absolutely positive that it was the second theory that had taken place, and he had really reincarnated.

"I have a system, just like in those cliché old novels before the year 2040". Clearly, Ethan wasn't truly shocked by the appearance of a system. The reason was simple because he as a grown man had already seen unbelievable feats, people flying, shooting flames, hunters, and monsters.

Damn, he was even reincarnated and was now in his 18-year-old body about 15 years back. He had also read some books that were written by old time otakus on the internet during the early 21st century about this kind of stuff.

The appearance of a system was at the bottom of the list of the craziest things he had ever seen.

However, that didn't mean that it didn't intrigue him.

Thanks to the system, he was able to see in this timeline. However, it wasn't all perfect.

Although the effect of the ability was Godly in the real sense, it wouldn't last long and wouldn't stay forever. Meaning that there was a chance that the system would take away the ability one day.

This info left him depressed a little, but there was no use thinking about it for the time being. Still, it made things a bit easier for him.

He looked at the phone in his hand and saw the date written on it when he turned on the screen. This wasn't the Xiaomi Silicon Ultrasmart phone model that he used in the year 2091, but a Samsung brand called Samsung Starlight XO4 Art.

In the future, not many of the companies lasted after the emergence of Awakened. Renowned companies like Apple that produce iPhones and, Techno, Huawei, and others had been thrown out of business decades ago and were replaced with new brands like Epic and Ancient technologies.

"So it really is the year 2076". He mumbled to himself.

[Attribute orb detected. Do you wish to plunder]

The cold emotionless voice said yet again as if urging him unenthusiastically.

Ethan's eyes brightened for a moment as he nearly forgot about it.

"Plundering system, huh? This should be something. Plunder it!"

Ethan said as a small smile appeared on his face.

[System command received]

Perception +3

As soon as he said those words, a warm current suddenly spread through his head.

At that moment, he felt like his mind had become clearer and free of extra burden. He also felt that his thinking capabilities had increased slightly.

His vision blurred slightly as another notification appeared on the screen.

[Attribute received, You may now check your status as you wish]

[Host: Ethan Wilde]

[Class: None]

[Race: Human]

[Title: None]

[Level : 0]

[Perception: 15 (+3) (increases your five senses by 0.5 for every point added. Perception serves as your sixth sense)]

[Vitality: 5 (increase your HP by 5 for each point)]

[HP: 25]

"This…. This is!" Ethan's heart palpitated as his eyes shone brightly. The appearance of the status panel was the last thing that Ethan needed to destroy and trace of doubts that were still in his mind.

Was this what people would call a bug? He couldn't believe it. He, Ethan Wilde, the loser awakened millionaire of planet earth, had actually obtained such a sick system.

Furthermore, he calmed his mind down and tried his best to prevent himself from screaming in delight.

However, his happy facial expressions turned gloomy as he properly analyzed his stats.

Looking at all his attributes that were below ten, Ethan let out a weary sigh as a bitter smile appeared on his face.

Indeed, in his past life, his strength was absolutely pathetic. Even as a teenager, his stats were basically at the level of a child.

There was nothing to be surprised about. His mother had over pampered him due to his illness and basically would never allow him to do anything taxing.

He did not exercise throughout his early life stages, leading to his currently weak body.

The only consolation he had been that, despite his strength being weak, he wasn't skinny. On the other hand, his body shape was moderate, and his skin complexion was good and didn't look malnourished.

His perception stat surprised him as it was higher than the average humans. It was already a whole 15 points.

However, Ethan quickly understood. Since he was accustomed to the dark for a large period of his life, his perception of his surroundings was definitely higher than normal people.

"Even if I managed to regain my sight back, becoming strong enough to protect myself would have still been a problem".

"But now, he-he. Things are different".

"I still have a week before the game is released. In this week, I should try my best to strengthen myself as much as possible".

His eyes had a determined look within them as a small grin was formed on his face.

With his past life knowledge, the other players were already miles behind him before the game even started.

Ethan didn't stand any longer and walked toward the bathroom.

Splash! Splash!

After taking a bath, Ethan turned on the tap and splashed cold water on his face.

He came back!

He raised his head and looked at the reflection of himself in the mirror. Staring at the newly acquired red pupils, Ethan nodded subconsciously as he freshened up.

Walking out of the bathroom with a towel tied around his waist, he prepared himself to live his teenage life all over again.

With a trace of excitement, he quickly dressed himself up and stepped out of the room.

As he walked out of the room, he took a deep breath and inspected his surroundings.

The whole place looked vague and distant, but strangely familiar at the same time.

He attributed it to his childhood memories that had long been forgotten. Seems like all memories were just somewhere buried deeply in the mind.

Sighing, he began to walk around down the hallways. Anywhere he passed by, he would look left and right like a foreigner who had come on a tour.

Indeed, the house in which Ethan lived in was not normal.

Although it couldn't be compared to his mansion in the future, it was still something out of the reach of ordinary people.

After looking around, he estimated that the house was worth a few million at the very least.

As he passed by, he took notice of the busy maids doing one random assignment or the other.

And the same way he looked at them, they noticed him as well. However, as soon as they saw Ethan walking around freely and waving at them with a small smile on his face, their expressions froze, and their eyes widened in disbelief.

Of course, Ethan noticed these changes. However, he couldn't be bothered to be explaining himself.

He was the young master of the family anyway, and his mother was second in command only to his grandfather.

At the same time, he wanted to test his system's ability. Earlier, that ball of light had fallen from Lily's body and had given him +3 perception points when he plundered it.

With his original 15 points in perception, his stats had increased to 16.5 perception points.

Ethan kept his eyes peeled as he stared to see if there were any other orbs. However, he was quickly disappointed to discover that it wasn't so easy to obtain points.

Soon, he arrived at the main living room of the house. As soon as he entered, he saw lily standing near the phone with her hands trembling.

Her pretty face was a mixture of joy and excitement, which quickly turned to embarrassment after noticing him.

"May I ask if that was my mother on the phone?" Ethan asked.

Lily showed a surprised expression, but quickly nodded her head to confirm his words.

Ethan wasn't surprised at all. In fact, he was already expecting her to do such a thing. After all, she was his personal maid, but she was still hired by his mother.

He was sure that his mother had given Lily instructions to first contact her if anything happened to him.

"I Just spoke to the madam a few seconds ago on the phone. When I first told her, she didn't believe it". Lily said excitedly.

"It was only after I assured her again that she quickly told me she was coming over immediately".

Ethan nodded.

Although he looked calm on the surface, behind his calm facade was a lot of agitation.

How he longed to see his mother! However, there were things that he had to do at the moment. In his past life, Emily Wilde (his mother) went on a business trip to discuss with another noble family.

However, she was rejected before she could even ask for help.

After the Wilde family started showing signs of decline, all their contacts and professional business clients had turned a blind eye to their predicament.

The family she had gone to presently was also one of their previous allies that decided to ignore their plight after learning about their huge problem.

So, even if she bailed out on the meeting with them, it wouldn't change the outcome.

Of course, the reason they dared to do such a thing was because his family had already lost the majority of its power.

"Young master, what happened? How could you suddenly see?" Lily asked him while wondering if she was hallucinating.

Ethan stayed silent for a few seconds.

It's not like he could tell anyone about the system anyway.

Apart from the fact that no one would believe him, if they did, then he would be in serious trouble.

The existence of the system was not something to be talked about lightly...... or to be talked about at all.

Of course, he had thought of this and come up with a believable explanation for why he could suddenly see.

"Am not sure..... But I think I have awakened and this is my special ability".

Ethan said with a small smile as ye pointed at his eyes. The red pupils glowed brighter a bit as he activated the translucent ability.
