Chereads / Fallen Star (BL) / Chapter 18 - He'll Make It, Right?

Chapter 18 - He'll Make It, Right?

KILO'S POV

"Castyr! Castyr!!" I frantically call the star's name.

"What happened?" Miren steadies herself after the blast of light. "Where did those bastards go?"

I whip my head around the craft. We are alone on the Flisea. Miren rushes to look out the window. The seven demon ships remain stationary in space.

"They're all gone," Miren gasps.

"How much power is left in the Flisea?" I ask.

"Not much."

"Transfer us to one of the demon ships."

"Huh?"

"We need to get to Earth."

"But my ship-"

"Castyr is hurt! Do it!!"

I look back down at Castyr as Miren fiddles with the controls.

"Ok. Ready?" Miren inquires after she has readied the ships.

I nod, and Miren transfers us to a demon ship. We are pulled through space and teleported into the new ship. Miren scans the ship for any remaining demons as I bring Castyr to a chair. I gently lay him down and check his pulse; it is faint, and he is unresponsive.

"The ship's clear," Miren informs as she passes me and takes the pilot's chair. She gives power to the thrusters and sets a course for Earth. The human checks the ship's stats before leaving the cock pit to notify me of our current situation. "We'll have enough power to skip the stop at Laeroe and reach Earth. It'll be tight, but we'll make it."

"Thank you. I need to get him to Heaven as soon as possible."

"Is he alright? What happened to him?"

"I think he used too much energy."

"He'll make it, right?"

I nod. Miren sighs with relief before taking a good look at me.

"You're bleeding!" She rushes to the back of the ship and searches for a medic kit. After successfully finding the small box, she hurries back over and sets the kit down.

"I can do it." I take the cleaning solutions and ointments from Miren and begin disinfecting my wounds. She winces as I begin stitching up the slash on my side. Once my wounds are stitched together, I clean off the blood and wrap them up.

Miren disposes of the the used medical materials as I check on Castyr. My eyes widen as I press my fingers to his neck.

"His pulse is gone!"

"What?!" Miren rushes over. "You said he used too much energy, right?"

I nod.

"So can you somehow give him some of your energy?"

"I'll have to try." I climb into the chair with Castyr and wrap my arms around him. I have heard of energy transfer. It is often used during the forming of a connection. I cannot form a connection with Castyr, but I can try to give him some of my energy. No, I have to.

MIREN'S POV

I watch as the angel holds his star. Kilo's determination awes me. I have never seen anyone strive so hard to protect someone. The angel and star remain in that state for a while, so I sit down and rest.

I regret having to leave the Flisea behind, but Devyn entrusted these two to me, so I will make sure they reach Earth safely. I sigh as I think about Devyn. Where is he? Is he even alive?

Tears touch my eyes as my mind goes to Devyn, and I think back to that rainy night. I had just been promoted to manager of Viant's branch on Borum and was visiting Earth for a meeting with the owner, Wil. Devyn was just a teenager when Wil found him.

I had never liked my boss, but that night I learned to despise him. I can still recall Devyn's cries clear as day. A tear slips down the side of my face. Devyn was so small, and Wil was already a young adult.

That night, I became determined to protect Devyn....And now he is gone. I curl up in the chair and tuck my legs next to my chest.

"I'm so sorry, Devyn." I rest my head on my knees and pray that there is someone out there who will protect Devyn.

TIME SKIP: 40 MINUTES LATER

A faint glow catches my attention. I lift my head and look behind me. After wiping my face, I stand to my feet.

Kilo slowly sits up and feels Castyr's pulse.

"How is he?"

"Better."

Kilo looks extremely exhausted. His face is pale, and his body shakes slightly.

"How much did you give him?"

"As much as I could." Kilo's eyes droop.

"You should get some rest. I'll let you know when we near Earth."

Kilo nods and lies back down. "Thank you," he manages to say before nodding off.

I smile at the two before beginning to search the craft for a blanket. I eventually find one and lay it over the angel and his star.
