I opened the emergency ward and on the table laid the patient I am supposed to work on. Her life mattered to me, yet I joked with it by coming late to save her.
It was a three-floor-story building, and the emergency ward was on the first floor at the far end of the hall. The walls were painted white, and the dominant smell in here was that of drugs.
I had the anxiety to curse at them, to shout at their backs while they left, but no! I couldn't do such a thing because this is a public place, the thought of it was what made me just shake my head and stay. It was quite weird but there is nothing I can do, absolutely nothing.
