Bree was stunned when a hand reached out and caught her wrist, stunned she turned around and looked at Ahmar who was looking at her with such a raw vulnerability that he nearly knocked all the air out of her lungs. She hasn't seen that expression on his face like ever —- and she was pretty certain that there was no mention of something like this in the book either, throughout the book, Ahmar was portrayed as someone who was cool, calm and totally in control of his emotions, it was often mentioned that this was due to some childhood trauma that he received when he was young and hardly ever let anyone close to him.
So, for him to show such an expression was something she never expected. There were no fake smiles, no teasing glint in his eyes just pure fear and dependency as he stared at her.
