Chereads / A Game of Gods / Chapter 62 - The Day The Heavens Fell

Chapter 62 - The Day The Heavens Fell

White-haired with purple, glowing eyes, had two horns, but one was broken, was short, with an overpowering presence. Danniel, the demon god, located his brother's body with divinity and hurried to that part of the war zone.

********

While using his original body to fight his half-brother's protégé, Marcuse felt a sudden pull. Before he could even react, he was stared at by these eyes.

His brother's piercing eyes. Glowing purple with anger, slightly covered by his ashen hair, these were the scariest existing pair of eyes ever since Chao The First gave them to the All-Enchanter.

He wanted to get away as fast as possible but could feel a firm grip on his collar.

"G-good to s-see y-you, Danny."

He tried to greet his half-brother nonchalantly.

"....."

There was no answer.

Usually, not hearing his brother's poisonous tongue when one most expected it gave an enlightening feeling, but not this time.

The feeling Danniel's eyes radiated made Marcuse want to vomit.

"S-so, How are you? What d-do y-you say about m-my self-introduction?"

Marcuse bluffed.

If Danny was as he remembered him, he would certainly appreciate a good self-introduction, and if it wasn't good, then he would surely enjoy ripping into Marcuse for his failure.

"....."

There was still no answer.

Marcuse was shaken. Danniel usually didn't care much to keep his thoughts to his own since he was more than confident in his ability to defeat whoever attempted to use them against him.

But now the glow in his eyes was the dimmest it had been in years. He had no confident smirk and no poisonous tongue. This being that masqueraded as Danniel, the demon god, forgot all his core traits.

Or at least that's what Marcuse preferred telling himself.

"What is it?! You think you are so great. You have nothing to say to your inferior brother?!"

The fake weather god lashed at Danniel in anger.

********

At the same time Marcuse's body was pulled by Danniel, Shu went to where Alexander fought one of Marcuse's other incarnations, Antony.

Lightning rained on Alexander, along with an acidic downpour and powerful gales that attacked him from all directions. He could barely hold his own.

Alexander's strategy was to stay close to Antony because, at a long distance, the god had the advantage. But with Antony's weather spells covering him from all directions, Alexander couldn't stay in close range.

Shu saw that, and as Antony focused all his attention on keeping the blue-eyed former knight at bay, Shu approached him from behind and swiped at his legs.

Instantly, the stormy weather that covered Alexander rested, and Antony lay on the ground between his two young enemies.

The two warriors approached the god and almost reached him when spears of lightning stretched from the earth to the heavens sprouted from the ground surrounding the blue-haired god and blocked their path.

"Such hubris!"

The god proclaimed loudly.

"You think you can kill a god?!"

He questioned them angrily.

Antony condensed a massive amount of magical energy that even Shu could sense in his hand and then moved it along his palm with a SNAP!

All that magic energy condensed in his index finger. He put that finger to his forehead, and blue and white light radiated from him.

His blue hair turned into pure lightning, and his veins glew.

In an instant, the lightning barrier dropped, and he launched himself at his opponents.

He moved at lightning speed, and Alexander was only fast enough to create a barrier to block the god, but he wasn't the target. The target was Shu.

With a spear of lightning in his hand, the god stabbed at the beastman in rapid succession.

Shu used his future sight and evaded the barrage of spears.

Antony's anger grew. That move he used when he fuzed with his lightning magic is his most powerful spell. How could that mortal who lacked all potential keep up with him?!

As his anger grew, the speed of his attack increased, but the accuracy lessened.

Antony decided to put more energy into his attack, and the blue aura engulfing him turned white.

His speed increased once more. He was sure this young beastman wouldn't be able to keep up with him.

And he was right!

Shu struggled to keep up with the increase in speed, but he still had one trump card...

"Alexander! I need your help!"

Shu called to his companion.

Alexander rushed at the weather god at top speed.

Antony didn't expect this young man to come back so soon, and his need to focus on two opponents, even if one of them was slower, made him slow down.

This was the moment Shu was waiting for. He opened his mouth and chanted.

"Vulpis petitionem!"

At first, Antony didn't understand what he was chanting for if he couldn't use magic, but he then sensed a massive surge in power from the red-haired beastman.

"Tsudzuraono!"

Shu used a spell he learned of in Nippon Mountain.

Apparently, his ancestor, who used the ancestral sword, used this spell in his fight against Hector.

This spell used the magic energy one had to enhance their physical capabilities.

Eight fox-tail-looking streams of magic energy sprouted from Shu's back. His senses were enhanced, and so was his strength.

Suddenly, it was Antony who couldn't keep up with the nine-tailed fox in front of him.

It was as if everything had slowed down but him. Shu sent a punch at max strength to Antony's face a crashed it.

Where Antony's smug face was before, now there was nothing. Shu blew Antony's head off with his full strength.

Soon after he did that, Shu passed out, and Mary came to see how he was.

********

A few minutes prior, after Antony used his original body, the body of Marcuse, and lashed at Danniel, the glow in Danniel's eyes returned.

"I never thought you were inferior."

He said quietly.

"What?!"

Marcuse didn't hear properly.

"I said I never thought you were inferior!"

Danniel shouted at him.

Marcuse opened his mouth to call him a liar, but before he could say a word, Danniel glared at him.

"I used to admire you. You are better with people, have a higher aptitude for magic, and our father didn't discard you and treated you like a tool! You had everything you needed to surpass me but didn't."

Danniel gritted his teeth angrily.

"And now you blame me!"

He shouted at his half-brother's face.

After shouting, Danniel started laughing like a maniac, which scared Marcuse even more.

"Kotta Prapan̄ca Vyavastha."

The demon god chanted. His eyes glowed brightly, and he radiated with energy.

"Well, so long, brother."

Danniel said and hugged Marcuse's body tightly.

They both glowed with a purple light. Shu, who only then regained consciousness, saw them being absorbed into the earth.

"Mister Danniel!"

He shouted.

Suddenly, everything shook.

Both Mary and Shu thought they failed yet again, but things were different.

Fractures spread through the sky, the horizon, and the earth. Blinding light came from these fractures, and everything engulfed by the light vanished.

It looked as if the sky was falling.

"Mary, I'm leaving Shu here with you!"

Alexander said and ran to find Muriel.

He found her just as she was engulfed by the light and grabbed her hand.

And with a stream of blinding glow, they both vanished.

********

A day later, Alexander woke up with Muriel by his side.

They were in a large grassy field Alexander recognized from the dreamer god's realm.

For a moment, he worried he was back, but then he saw concrete pillars that looked scarily similar to the city of the human god in the godless realm.

What was going on?

Before he could even think of a plan, he heard the screams of a girl coming from nearby.

He rushed in the direction of the screams and saw a purple-haired girl who seemed to be around his age being harassed by thugs.

Quickly, before he could even think, he did something more fitting for Shu to do. He jumped in front of her, sword in hand, and glared at the criminals.

"If you want to get to her, you need to go through me!"

He announced loudly, and his opponents flinched.

"You think you are some hero. What realm do you think this is?"

One of the thugs asked him with a smug expression.

Alexander didn't answer and only analyzed the situation.

"There are no realms anymore."

The girl interjected.

Her brown eyes seemed to be suppressing a lot of grief.

"What do y-"

Alexander mumbled, and the girl continued.

"I am a priestess of the dreamer god's temple, and yesterday we received a message from our goddess. The message said that the demon god and the weather god are no more, and all seven realms have become one."

The girl finished her words, and everyone was in shock.

What was going on? Where are they? Where is Shu? Did the demon god truly die?

All these thoughts danced in Alexander's head as he tried to think of their next move.

~~~~~~~~
First thing. Thank you for reading A Game of Gods, part two: The Day The Heavens Fell. I had a lot of fun writing it, and I hope you had fun too.
Second thing. I have an idea for part three, but I won't necessarily write it due to low readership.
If you want there to be a third part, then please leave one comment. It can say anything. (you can curse me if you want)
This one comment will make it clear someone is reading, and I don't want to be the type of author who drops a novel midstory.
Again, thank you very much for reading. I hope you had fun.
