Chapter 48 - You Shouldn't Wake A Sleeping Lady

After Antony unleashed his gales, Dam, Emilia, some other girl, and Shí Hóu, who was still called Dasheng Zhizi, were whisked away to the territory of the criminal god's followers.

Dam was the third to wake up. When he woke, he saw a gold-haired girl with enchanting eyes as blue as the deep sea and goat horns. She sat particularly close to him and looked straight into his eyes.

He lifted his head and saw a guy who looked like a grey monkey with weirdly stiff fur and even weirder golden dragon-scale armor with a red cape with a cowl, red leather boots, and holding a typical-looking stave.

The only thing peculiar about his stave was that it looked like its body was made of dark metal with golden rings at the two ends. Dark metal is the strongest and heaviest metal in the world. It would have made no sense if the entire stave was made of it. It would be too heavy, and Dam found it hard to believe a human-sized monkey could lift something this heavy.

"He woke up!"

The girl shouted to the monkey-looking guy with a playful tone.

The guys' eyes lit up with excitement, and Dam could only wonder if these two individuals who looked at him as if he were a toy were his enemies.

"Oi, what's your name? This over there is Charlotte. This 'kind-looking' girl is Emilia."

The guy introduced the people he was with. When he described the blue-eyed girl as 'kind-looking,' Dam noticed a hint of irony, though he didn't know either of them enough to understand why.

"My name is Dasheng Zhizi."

The guy added as he pointed at himself.

"M-my name is Dam Cahol."

Dam said and put his hand forward for a handshake.

Dasheng Zhizi grabbed Dam's hand and shook it excitedly.

"So, when do we check with him?"

Emilia asked. The question was directed at Dasheng Zhizi, and Dam strongly felt it was not about him.

"Wait for Charlotte to wake up. You know how she is when we wake her early."

Dasheng Zhizi answered. His eyes hinted that he would be so happy if they were to wake her up.

Dam thought getting on the monkey-looking guy's good side would be wise.

He looked at the girl lying on the ground. She had pale skin and puffy, well-taken-care-of red hair.

He took a deep breath.

"Hey, Charlotte! Time to wake up!"

Suddenly her eyes opened, and Dam could see her eyes were brown.

"Who is it who woke me up?! I told you not to do that kind of thing!"

Dam shuddered in fear. Did he make a mistake?

"Hahahaha! Dude, you're a legend! Charlotte going berserk is one of the greatest sights in the world! Hahahahah."

Dasheng Zhizi laughed loudly, and Charlotte looked at him with piercing eyes.

"Dasheng Zhizi~ Do you want to die?"

Charlotte closed her hand into a fist, and Dam could hear her knuckle cracking.

"Wa-wait? Why aren't you angry at him?"

Dasheng Zhizi sweated in fear.

"He is new here, and I'm certain you are the one who told him to do it."

Charlotte's eyes looked like they were on fire.

"Hey, Dam."

"What?"

Dam didn't know what Dasheng Zhizi wanted.

"You want to take responsibility for this?"

"No, I'm good. I will pray for your safety in the afterlife."

Dam answered casually.

Dasheng Zhizi chuckled awkwardly.

Charlotte launched herself at Dasheng Zhizi.

"Good job."

Emilia said out of nowhere.

Dam was surprised. She was quiet until this moment, and what was different now? Charlotte was chasing Dasheng Zhizi with pure killing intent. Was she a psycho?!

...Gods damn it! Dam felt as if he had reached enlightenment. There was no one sane here! If it were Shu instead of Dam, he would fit in perfectly!

"Hmm, thanks..."

He had no idea what else he could say.

"No problem."

Emilia said.

Then, Emilia seemed to be deliberating on something.

"What is it?"

Dam was curious.

"Should I check with him already?"

Emilia ignored him and shouted at Dasheng Zhizi.

"Yes!"

Dasheng Zhizi shouted back.

Dam was about to ask who was "him," but Emilias' eyes started glowing. Fog and a blue glow spread throughout the area.

A figure made of purple light appeared. It was a slightly short man with two horns, one of which was broken.

"Little oracle! What makes you call me on this day?"

The demon god knew why she called him, but it was always good to make sure.

"I want to know whether they are going to the new lands or Nippon Mountain. And in what direction are they?"

Emilia asked.

"As for the first question, you know the answer already. And as for the second, they are northeast of where you are. Mostly north."

The demon god answered.

"Hmm, who are you?"

Dam couldn't restrain his curiosity.

"I am Nobody."

The demon god said as if someone was supposed to get that reference. Nobody was an alias used by a human hero in the previous reality.

"Shadow?"

Still no response. Shadow was the alias used by a character from a book written by a human mortal in the old reality.

"Ironman?"

Danniel was despondent. Ironman was a famous hero from a comic book written by a human mortal in the old reality. They didn't even know him? Remaking reality was a mistake...

"Are you okay?"

Dam asked. Something about the situation felt awkward.

Danniel sighed.

"Yea, it's all good. My name is Danniel. You can call me Danny. You probably know me as the demon god."

Dam listened to the words of the figure made of light. Danniel... Dam didn't know anyone with that name. Danny... okay, so he didn't have to be formal with this person. The demon god... Oh, that gu- Wait?! What?!

"Y-you are the d-d-demon god?"

Dam was terrified. If he accidentally offended this guy, he would be killed!

"Don't worry. You have no reason to be this scared."

Danniel tried to calm Dam down.

"Well, I gotta go."

Danniel saw Dam's state and decided he didn't want anything to do with that.

"It's okay. Mister Danniel is a nice guy."

Emilia put her hand on Dam's shoulder and said.

"Dam and I will start going to the monster train! We are heading to Nippon Mountain!"

Emilia called in Dasheng Zhizi's direction.

"Okay!"

Dasheng Zhizi responded. His voice sounded more like a cry, and Dam couldn't imagine what Charlotte would do to him.
