Carter
"Good day esteemed people, Once again we are sorry for the delay in the stipulated start time for the meeting. Mr Aaron promised to make it up to you all in an amazing manner and trust whatever that man promised to do." Bella started with a huge smile plastered on her face.
My dad also smiled and agreed with her. Others did too but majority of the people present weren't interested in a promise. They wanted to see what she had prepared for them. Trust money hungry engineers….they never disappoint.
"This might be impromptu but believe me, I'm not here to present or propose a half cooked idea. We have been working on this and I know you won't be disappointed." Bella continued.
I thought it was all talks but I was surprised when she pulled the presentation off with full accuracy. I prepared for it but I know I couldn't have done it that way. She was perfect. Perfectly in my way to inherit the company and I won't let that happen.
The board members were pleased with the presentation and my dad stood up to bestow Bella with a standing ovation. He led and others followed. I didn't stand though. A victim of an accident has to be careful after all.
Bella gave me the most insulting look I have ever experienced but she smiled knowingly at me. I've known that crazy redhead for so long to know what each and every one of her looks meant. I perceived she was saying
"how could I have trusted you with an important presentation. I have a backup plan for anything that concerns you. Thank you for allowing me to take over in your place fool."
It only made me want to smack the smile off her face. I couldn't do that, instead, I called everyone's attention to antagonize her.
"I know Miss Smith did justice to the presentation but I don't agree with some of her approaches and conclusions." I attacked
"What are you saying? She did justice to everything as long as I'm concerned." My dad said and everyone agreed.
"What I'm saying is, I'm sure most of us are tired of being cocooned in a boardroom, signing proposals and engineering them. We want a change. Something different.. something lively. Right?"
I said, placing the perfect bait before them. The reaction of several board members showed that they agreed with me. I was pleased with that and I continued.
"Therefore why don't we throw a relaxing engineers alone party to seal off this deal and to get more investors. It will be a turn from the normal but we all need it."
"What!…. A party. Excuse me Carter, not everyone has the time for your wayward way to things." Edward attacked me and half of the board members sided with him.
"But if we think about it carefully, He has a point Mr Smith." The youngest invitees spoke and he had numerous backups.
I smiled at him and he reciprocated.
"Sir, engineers would never agree to this. We know how busy they can be."
Bella chipped in. Her face was becoming as red as her hair.
"We are busy and that is why we need a break."
Someone at the end of the table added and with that hell broke loose. Arguments started and different points were thrown to the table. To my satisfaction, some people went berserk and Bella was right in the middle of it, proposing multiple alternatives to teach a favorable conclusion for everyone.
That kept her busy for a very long time and I sat where I was without offering a solution or a way out.
She doesn't deserve to have a smooth day. Not on my watch.
