Carter's words caught me off-guard
"Are you sleeping with him?"
The question rendered me totally speechless. His glare was murderous. I was silent for some minutes and my hands were hurting due to his tight hold on them.
"Carter let me go."
I requested calmly, ignoring his insulting question. I understand the fact that he was mad about his father's decision. He shouldn't be competing for his rights. I get it.
"Answer me! Are you pleasuring my father sexually? Have you been whoring around with him?"
He yelled at my face, repeating his question and tightening his hold on me.
"Yes!" I yelled right back
He was taken aback enough to reduce his tight hold on me. I didn't bother to release myself completely.
"Isn't that what you were expecting? You were expecting me to say no but if you knew I wasn't sleeping with him, why are you asking me. I know you are angry because I placed myself in your position." I continued
"You are taking over what is mine Christabella!. I can't allow that."
He shook his head aggressively, like a mother denying her child access to candy.
"You think I do not understand? I'm not as selfish as you Carter. I was on my way to your dad. Do you know what I was going to him for? It was to reject the position I was appointed to." I scoffed at my stupidity.
Carter hands dropped off mine completely. He didn't believe his ears but I was sincere. That was my plan but not anymore.
"I thought about you before making that decision but did you think about me before your baseless accusations? You are selfish. You know what your selfishness has done to me? It changed my mind."
I said, proceeding to walk away from him.
"What do you mean by I changed your mind?"
Despite knowing the answer, Carter still asked me.
"It is exactly what you are thinking, Carter. I accept the position and I will compete with you to get it. A girl from a poor background deserves the best too and I will get it. You don't deserve the company anyways."
I told him and walked away, leaving him stunned. I almost rejected an offer that will change the history of my entire family for a clueless heir. Stupid me but right there, I made a promise to myself. I will own Lithe Technology… someday soon.
"Bella darling….come in dear."
Aaron said as I made my presence known in his office. I walked in and took the seat in front of him. I opened my mouth to speak but he beat me to it.
"Huh. I know you have plenty of questions for me but all I have to say is, you deserve it Christabella. Ever since I saw you at that restaurant, I knew you had potential and my company needs it to grow. It needs you Bella."
Aaron said, answering my unasked questions. This man loves me too much. My eyes became watery from the undeserving love that Aaron bestowed unto me.
"Thank you Aaron. Your words make me feel on top of the world. I appreciate you sir."
I said, crying softly. I was overwhelmed.
"Stop the tears. Let's treat you to dinner at my house to celebrate your new position. What do you say to that, Bella?"
Aaron suggested after releasing from his embrace.
"How can I say no to that Aaron?"
I replied and we both chuckled. We left the office in his car.
"Can we call this dinner or late lunch." I queried.
Aaron laughed at my question. "Whatever it is, I just need to fill my belly. It has been a long tiring day."
He said as we arrived at the Dixon's mansion. There is no doubt, Aaron's home is one of the largest buildings I have ever seen. The beautiful color between brown and yellow was used to decorate the outer walls of the two storey building. I personally think the house was too big for just two people. The few other people who work in the house to keep it sparkle occupy the quarters at the back of the main building.
"Welcome to my small home Bella." Aaron said. That wasn't being humble…. It was an obvious lie.
"There is nothing small about your home sir."
He laughed at my statement but I was too engrossed in the house to do the same. We finally entered and Aaron told me to make myself comfortable in the sitting room as he went up to his room to change into comfortable clothes. I sat down but didn't last a minute on the sofa…. I stood
"Excuse me miss. Allow me to lead you to the dining area. Mr Aaron is there waiting for you to join him."
A middle aged woman with visible wrinkles said to me and I followed her, after thanking her for informing me. We both arrived at the table and I sat beside Aaron who was sitting at the head of the table…. As usual… at home and in the office..
"Thanks for joining me Christabella."
Aaron beams at me while the older woman who came to get me ensured that the food was well dished out by the younger helpers. I guessed she is in charge of all the other helpers in the mansion.
"Thank you for inviting me, Aaron. All of these look and smell delicious. I can't wait to dig in."
I responded. Eyeing the dishes hungrily. The Crescent Roll Chicken Casserole was calling out to me but there was meatloaf with tomato ketchup too and other varieties. I decided to just eat whatever my stomach can handle.
