The nightly hustle and bustle in the city center had always been left to the humans. They would play loud music in the streets to attract people to their little shops of glittering lights. Within the darker alleys of Canini Shore, a small bar was just opened by the barkeeper.
When he settled on his station to ready his cocktail mixes, he quickly moved his eyes to find someone at one of the tables. Even if she was already indoors, she had a veiled hat and a handheld pipe with an intricate design. Her black clothes hid most of her in the shadow cast by the walls impeding the lights of the bar. However, the pale skin of her crossed leg still made her shape apparent.
The barkeeper didn't say anything else. He just looked down and prepared a martini for her. It's just that when he was about to start with the mix, a crisp yet dull thump came to the counter. He looked up and saw the same woman seated on a seat before him at the counter.
