Chapter 9 - Mauling

[You have dealt 8 damage]

[You have dealt 8 damage]

[You have dealt 8 damage]

That was the constant system prompt Lei Zhen had seen when he continuously smacked the Goblin Mob with his [Novice staff].

Although the Goblin Mob's health point still has a lot, Lei Zhen was slowly killing it.

The Goblin Mob could only groan in pain and glared at Lei Zhen with bloodshot eyes.

"Stop making such a scary face, Goblin Mob. If you want to hate someone, then you should hate the game creator that allowed me to do this in the first place." Lei Zhen said calmly, raising his [Novice Staff] again.

BAM!

[You have dealt 8 damage]

It was truly a workout for Lei Zhen when he needed to use his actual strength to smack the Goblin Mob. His stamina was also slowly draining down.

Time slowly passed by, and before Lei Zhen had noticed, 49 seconds had gone through.

Just when Lei Zhen wanted to raise his [Novice Staff] again to smack the Goblin Mob's head, it suddenly moved and rushed forward, shocking Lei Zhen.

"Crap, I forgot about the timer!" Lei Zhen screamed and retreated backward.

And without hesitation, he quickly cast [Stun] again. This time, he didn't need to do any fancy action such as holding his [Novice Staff] high up nor chant the spell.

After all, he had equipped the spell [Stun] onto his quick slot, allowing him to cast it in an instant.

Bzzt

[Goblin Mob has been stunned]

Lei Zhen breathed a sigh of relief and thanked his quick reflexes.

He might have made a mistake by not counting the duration of the [Stun], but luckily he was able to salvage the crisis swiftly. Otherwise, if he had gotten hit again by the Goblin Mob, then he would have died.

"Ugh, why couldn't they have shown a timer above the Goblin Mob's head? That blunder alone just gave me a fright," he complained slightly.

However, he quickly shook that thought process since this isn't the game's fault.

It was his fault for being overly excited about the Unique Effect from his class and was blinded by the achievement.

He proceeded to look at the immobilized Goblin Mob with a cautious expression.

[Species: Goblin Mob]

Level 50

HP: 423/743

Lei Zhen sighed softly at the difference of health points on the Goblin Mob.

Throughout the duration of the stunned Goblin Mob, he had only managed to deal a total of 320 damage.

Being glitched to a high-level area, and forced to fight a high-level monster, Lei Zhen should have been grateful that he could even safely deal damage at the monster while being level 1.

However, the thrill and excitement that one should have at the beginning of a game were long gone.

This was no longer some fantasy adventuring quest game. This was a long and difficult journey of hacking a mere Goblin Mob to death.

Thus, after repeatedly hacking the Goblin Mob and casting [Stun] again, Lei Zhen finally managed to kill the Goblin Mob.

Ding!

[You have killed a Goblin Mob]

[Exp gained: 2]

"..."

Lei Zhen almost choked on his saliva when he looked at the number of experience points he had gained.

"2 points? After all that hard work, I get only 2 experience points?" he shouted in disbelief.

Opening his character status, Lei Zhen saw the tiny experience bar that had been hiding under the screen.

[Experience Point: 2/1000]

Placing his hand on his forehead, Lei Zhen felt like crying.

The scene in front of him was a bloody mess. His Novice Robe was soaked in the blood of the Goblin Mob that had splattered over him.

Extremely disappointed by the game design of having the monsters give out so few experience points, Lei Zhen wanted to log out.

How could such a game be so popular and become a sensation?

Lei Zhen was so confused and wondered how the other players managed to enjoy the game.

"Are poor people destined to suffer in such an atrocity? Does being poor mean you are bound to receive billions of errors and setbacks?" He muttered.

And while he was mauling over his unfortunate event, loud rumbling sounds could be heard from afar.

Lei Zhen instantly had a bad omen about it and quickly opened his map to check the status.

One, Two, Three, Five, Ten...

Lei Zhen tried to keep count of the number of red dots in his mini-map but was soon overwhelmed.

"T-They wouldn't be all charging at me, right?"

Sometime later, a shriek of cries echoed and a bunch of Goblin Mobs appeared out of nowhere, surrounding Lei Zhen.

When the Goblin Mobs saw the corpse that Lei Zhen had brutally murdered, their eyes turned bloodshot as rage-filled upon their emotions.

Ding!

[Congratulation on enraging a horde of Goblin Mobs]

[All nearby Goblin Mobs had their stats increased by two times]

"Why did I have to jinx myself?" He asked himself.

Seeing the current scenario in front of him, Lei Zhen could tell just how much the horde wanted him dead.

They were all drooling off their saliva and were extremely ferocious.

The Goblin Mobs were all holding tightly on their dagger, ready to return the debt to Lei Zhen.

"Did you all think I would be afraid of you?" Lei Zhen suddenly shouted aloud.

And with a serious face, Lei Zhen stared at the horde of Goblin Mobs as he nodded his head vigorously.

"You are right! I'm frightened, so see you later. Logout!"

Ding!

[Player Lei Zhen is currently in combat mode. Unable to Logout]

It was like his life had flashed before his eyes when he witnessed the system prompt that was no different than telling him to go to hell.

He had got to be the first person ever to receive a series of misfortunes and still unable to free himself.

'Even with my Stun ability and the unique effect, I can only immobilize 3 Goblin Mob at most.' Lei Zhen calculated in his mind, hoping that this nightmare could be over already.
