DAKOTA’S POV
When there was news that an Alpha would be inside our house, I had to doll myself up. Sure, he was to be matched with Adele, but I figured that would fall apart soon enough. From how Mother and Father yelled at her about her bastard child, I couldn’t imagine that the engagement would last long.
Why would an Alpha want to be with such damaged goods?
And then, there was me!
I was younger than Adele, far prettier, and much smarter. I would never get too drunk at a party and sleep around.
I waited anxiously in the living room, seated in a comfy armchair and staying warm by the crackling fireplace.
In the kitchen, I could hear the Betas and Alphas of the packs speaking. Mom passed through the doorway with a carafe of red wine, paused to pour a hefty glass for the very tall and very handsome Joshua Radcliff, Gamma of the Red Moon pack, and also the Alpha’s father.
