The scene revealed a man ogling at Kahlan's body, he was still holding unto her body but could still feel the unusual warmth and softness of her body.
He swallowed hard resisting the urge to tear her clothes and have her right away.
He carried Kahlan, turning right and progressing as fast as he could. The place he was at looked lonely and desolate but occasionally, someone would pass this route.
He was afraid of getting caught so he quickened his steps.
He stopped in front of a black van opening it, casually thrusting Kahlan inside and getting in.
"Boss, i did a good job right?" the man asked the person sitting in front.
"Mmmm" Sparrow acknowledged, quietly starting the car and driving off.
He had myriad of thoughts he was processing one after the other and his head was beginning to ache, he wasn't interested in his minion's need for attention.
Luca's wife after having separated from Kahlan had infact went straight home and was already sitting in her living room.
The ambiance held a melancholy as stared interestingly at the ceiling, twirling a glass of wine in her hand.
She closed her sharp eyes looking tired.
Luca had just died like that and she couldn't accept it. Who would so brazenly slap her across the face by killing her husband.
She was a big name in Catania and had a bit of power in some other cities in Italy as well. One would have to think twice before offending her.
She sighed, blaming Luca for his greed and foolishness.
The former, because if he had not taken some benefits from the other party to make Kahlan suffer, he wouldn't have even known the killer.
The later, because he couldn't protect himself. He was so blinded that he didn't know he was supposed to have a backup plan in case something unexpected happened.
He should have had some implicating évidences that the other party couldn't deny if put out there.
When going against a strong opponent, one has to be not only smarter but shrewd and calculative leaving yourself a leeway if things probably went south.
At this moment, someone walked bearing with him whiff of a strong masculine cologne.
Luca's wife frowned slightly when she caught the scent of the person that walked in before opening her eyes slowly with an irked expression visibly on her face.
He bowed slightly, carefully reading the expression on the face of the woman before him. Opening his mouth nonchalantly, his voice rough and powerful with a tinge of respect to it.
"I have a report, boss"
Luca's wife was extremely irritated, waving her hand impatiently, she weakly replied.
"Speak" She didn't know why but right now she didn't want to see anybody. She craved to be alone and this subordinate of hers for the first time was an eyesore.
It had better be something worth her attention or else, she was afraid she would directly punch him in the face because of agitation.
"We couldn't find any clue leading to Sir Luca's death, it's as if all traces have been wiped. If handled by the police, I'm afraid they would be helpless too"
She didn't show any reaction. Even closing her eyes without making a sound. She had expected this outcome. Someone had daringly went against her, that person must be powerful enough to not let her get a wind of it.
"Anything else?" she said dismissively.
"Yes boss. Apparently, this person wants to deliberately make Miss Kahlan's life difficult desperately. According to one of Sir Luca's friend and drinking mate, he said Sir Luca had mentioned he accepted a hefty sum of money just to throw Miss Kahlan out of his house. He said, Sir Luca readily accepted the money without prying into details"
Luca's wife proped herself up, staring straight into her subordinate's eyes. Her eyes flashing with cruelty.
So it was confirmed her husband has died because of Kahlan.
She suddenly smashed the glass of wine in her hand on the wall, releasing a bloodthirsty aura. Clenching her fist, her ordinary face turned dark.
"Get more people to secretly protect Kahlan. That person would still be lurking around looking for ways to harm her for sure" She commanded in an icy voice.
She was weaker than the other party but she could still try her best to protect that little girl.
That girl has painstakingly worked for herself ever since he met her. keeping her head down and not looking for trouble everywhere like other youngsters.
Clearly, she had no parents and was pitifully hardworking to the point that someone would think she would actually break her waist very soon from all the work.
Her heart grew with worry but her chest was still heaving like an angry beast. She knew when she manages to catch the villain, she would tear him to shreds.
The subordinate was rather calm, looking like he was used to her temper. She was a female boss of their gang, for her to be able to control large number of men and make them bow to her every command, her prowess could not underestimated.
