Teeth gritted, Melody sat huddled in a blanket on the sofa, still trembling.
Melanie saw the tears in her eyes. She didn't try to hide them. Pain flickered in Melanie's face as Melody fumbled with her cup and saucer.
Without thinking, Melanie put her hand over hers that was wrapped around the cup of hot chocolate. She was moved by her sister's sadness.
She could somewhat understand but not completely since she had never been in a serious relationship before.
