When it was finally Mordecai's turn, the skeleton inspected the prisoners which were kept inside a cage in the wagon. It circled the entire wagon before granting them access into the castle gates.
They all let out the breath they were unconsciously holding. Cecelia picked the lock , opened the cage and they all jumped out of the cage, hiding behind some barrels that were left out. They remained behind the barrels, waiting patiently for Mordecai.
Mordecai parked the wagon at the designated spot. He got down from the wagon and made his way to the barrels the others were hiding behind.
He was halfway there when, a skeleton put its hand on his shoulder. "You there, stop!" Mordecai panicked inside his head. The others were equally worried about him. "Could they have seen through my illusion?" He thought as an imaginary sweat slid down his temple.
Mordecai turned around to face the skeleton. It was quite skinny, wearing nothing but a brown leather belt which adorned it's waist and had skull patterns on it. On the skeleton's back was a large crossbow. The skeleton had a pink orb embedded in it's breast bone.
"Are you heading to the stables? " it inquired.
Mordecai nodded.
"Okay then, make sure you feed the horses." The skeleton said and walked away, leaving Mordecai who let out a breath of relief.
Mordecai continued walking to the barrels and after making sure that no one or anything else was paying attention, he ducked behind the barrels to hide with the others.
"That was a close one" He said.
"You could have asked it where the prisoners were being kept. Why didn't you say anything? " Viola whisper shouted.
"Because..." Mordecai began. "Viola listen, I know how badly you want to find your sister but we can't rush things. Besides, that was no ordinary skeleton we just encountered, it was a captain skeleton. "
They all looked at each other and then, they turned to look at Mordecai, seeking answers from him.
