Chereads / GOT: Reborn as Mordred / Chapter 2 - Talks before bed

Chapter 2 - Talks before bed

"I want to go back to Dorne... I miss it." Mordred gazed wistfully at the sky with a belly full of food.

"Tch, Dorne." Cersei walked out drunk and hissed at Mordred.

"Lannisters and Dorne could have been allies if you didn't allow those monsters to commit that terrible atrocity. How would you react if you were raped and then had to witness your children murdered before your very eyes and then your head squeezed until it exploded like a grape?" Mordred's question made Cersei vomit all her food and booze.

"You twisted freak." Cersei huffed.

"..." Mordred tuned her out like white noise, a skill she picked up years ago to deal with Cersei, Cersei of course kept talking like always.

Cersei thinks that Mordred is just sitting there taking her insults since she is Queen and Mordred is merely a Knight the lowest of nobility.

'Cersei is as delusional as she is in the Game of Thrones TV show. I plan to escape to Dorne the day Joffrey becomes King. No way in hell would I serve that little bastard.' Mordred gathered her thoughts and came back to reality.

"If that's all my Queen." Mordred bowed and left a red-faced Cersei who was out of breath.

"Might I remind you that you'd be dead were it not for her?" Robert belched at the end of his speech.

"Tch, I never asked for her to save me." Cersei's words were biting but there was an underlying softness to it.

Cersei was going to die in childbirth from loss of blood but when Mordred showed her Maester Chain which had 10 Silver Rings signifying her being the greatest healer around Cersei begged her to save her and the baby, however... The chain before the silver one was of Ten Rings of Iron. The ten iron rings nearly made Cersei pass out from fear the only thing that prevented it was the pain of childbirth.

Lately Mordred has been learning of the 'higher' mysteries such as how to create Valyrian Steel and perform feats of magic, it is due to her nine Valyrian steel rings on her chain link that the Sept do not accuse her of being a witch, and such.

The tenth and final Valyrian Steel ring has been out of her reach for the past three years, for all her immense intellect she is currently stumped on it. Her IQ is over 200 but that doesn't automatically make her able to learn something just by seeing it once. Magic is profound to even the greatest minds and thus is more difficult than learning how to be a doctor or a War General.

Mordred had to put in the effort to learn and earn her chain links just like all the other Maesters. But being smarter than everyone around her when it comes to academics makes learning easier than others which has made many Maesters jealous.

"It's because of my second best friend that I finally have a true Baratheon-looking child. I started to wonder if you were unfaithful after the 2nd child but the black hair and blue eyes of Tommen dispelled that thought." Cersei who was facing away from Robert had a pale complexion.

but when the mention of Tommen came up, Cersei expressed regret but also love. Tommen is the only trueborn of Robert due to Mordred's use of magic, which makes Jaime impotent. Mordred did this because she thought the Kingslayer wanted to get into her pants, so she made him impotent out of feminine anger. Also, because he is so creepy, he always pops out of the blue like a creepy stalker.

"Mordred is different from me, so I don't like her. And I don't mean that why is she a warrior and I'm not. No... Mordred is different because of her ideology. She was a slum rat, she was raised on the sole ideology that strength and violence are the only way the world operates, she operates under the survival of the fittest, you are either a warrior or not in her eyes and people like me aren't worth her attention unless it concerns her fellow friends who happen to be warriors. The only reason she saved me was because of you Robert, if we weren't wed she would have just watched me die even though she has ten silver chainrings." Cersei had a good reason not to like Mordred instead of an irrational one such as the one with Tyrion, Cersei cannot accept Mordred's ideology, their ideologies completely clash against each other which is why the Aunt and Niece don't hate each other but there is no like either nor love.

"She grew up in harsh conditions. She had to learn how to fight, steal, and kill from an early age. It's no surprise you both don't like each other. You were born with everything from her perspective and she was born with nothing and had to earn everything she has." Robert sighed and sat down next to Cersei and they shared a moment.

"Being born into nobility is a prison Robert not just for women but men as well. Wouldn't you rather be out there as a mercenary or something else that lets you fight to your heart's content? Mordred doesn't understand that noble houses aren't born with everything, for us to grow up with a better education and with all the benefits we get such as good food, baths, and everything else we must marry and discard our false freedom." Cersei shook her head and gave a hurt look as she too wanted to be like Mordred but was unfortunate enough to be born a noble.

"Aye, I'd rather be able to crack skulls and fuck girls my whole life going from one place to another always in search of war and conflict. But like you said, nobles don't get a choice." Robert sighed sadly.

"She views the Game of Thrones as a stage play, something entertaining to watch. That's why everyone leaves her be. She doesn't play the game and merely watches it for her amusement. She calls it Real Time Play. To her, it's a show. She has freedom and a noble status, which is unheard of. Is it unfair that I feel jealous?" Cersei's feelings on her niece are complicated but the Queen does consider her family which is the only reason she tolerates her.

"HA! I am jealous of her. It makes sense you'd be." Robert laughed and then got up and walked away.

"I feel like he's jealous for an entirely different reason." Jaime comes out of the shadows.
