I was still up, unable to give in to sleep. Though it has been a shiitty day, I still couldn't end it once and for all. I had a warm bath so it'd make me feel more compelled to sleep but it didn't work, apparently.
I found myself walking to Sky's room aware that everyone must be in their room right now.
I stood by the door and eavesdropped on the voices behind it.
It was that of Keiran and Sky.
It sounded like they were playing video games with the comments they were making.
I stood there for about five minutes, leaning on the door and just letting time pass by.
It was at that point that the door drastically opened and I almost fell over if not for someone grabbing me by my wrist.
I quickly stood erect to see Keiran staring at me.
"What the... What are you doing here?" He asked looking stunned.
I went ahead to enter the room and he shut the door behind us.
"Nothing." I muttered sitting on the bed.
Sky grabbed his game control and handed it to me.
"Join us, big sis." He said smiling cutely at me.
I silently took the controller and sat next to him on the floor. The video games were from Jared for his tenth birthday.
He gets the best gifts during his birthdays.
We spent three hours, crushing zombies, destroying aliens, car racing, wrestling and any game we could get our hands on.
It was fun and we kept talking nonstop.
When exhaustion took over, the three of us slept off next to each other on the cold floor which didn't affect us because of our inner genes.
For the first time since Keiran returned, I slept feeling happy through out.
I didn't worry if I was adjusting to fast to his return. I just wanted to be happy like this, whether he was there or not. I wanted to be happy.
The moon goddess might not like me very much but at least I get to rest happily tonight.
• Next Morning •
When Sky and I woke up the next morning, there was no sign of Keiran and I was certain he had left very early probably so his mother wouldn't notice.
I took long preparing for school because I was speaking to Daphne on the phone and I thought it'd be rude to end the conversation.
She asked me how I went home that night after the party and I just had to escape her question without telling her Keiran took me to his house.
"Let's hang out later, Umbrie. I think we should try to know each other better and build an awesome friendship, don't you think? I know a good place tho." She said and I was imagining her face as she spoke.
"Sure, let's go out right after studying with the guys today." I said and she giggled.
I cleared my throat.
"So...how is your mother?" I asked with a shaky voice.
"She's fine." Her response came quick.
"She's fine?" I asked and she sighed.
"I want to believe she's fine. Don't want to bore you with my pathetic story. She's still sick. Very sick. Sadly, there's nothing I can do about it." She replied and there was a short silence on the line. "Oh, thank you for asking, Umbrie."
"Oh...it's nothing. I really care about you as I should." I pointed out.
"Okay, see you at school."
I tossed my phone on my bed and started putting on my pants. I've been holding it in my hand because I was holding onto my phone.
I wonder how school would be today now that Keiran and I are practically 'okay'.
He shook my hand. That must have been a sign of truce. A sign that he won't cheat on me again, whether intentionally or unintentionally. A sign that we will figure it out even though it may be hard being together.
Maybe he's changing for me!
Argh.. I'm over thinking everything but I just can't wait to see him later.
I rushed to the table and applied perfume on my shirt. I have to smell nice for a change. Just like Daphne...
She's really the girl I try to be but I cannot because I can only imagine being that girl. But I can never really be that kind of girl.
She dresses now, has a nice voice with a bit of robotic tone, cute and just bubbly.
I'm starting to guess her mother might not be the woman I saw that day. I don't have evidence to prove she's lying. I'll just let her open up when she wants to.
I left for school and Jared drove me. I had to skip breakfast so he wouldn't leave me behind. Just very soon, I'll get my own car... I hope.
A moment later, I arrived at the entrance and walked to class with Brittany. It turned out we had fine history together as first period.
Brittany belonged to another study group, that was one of the things that prevented us from being 'friends'. She had her world and I had mine. But she was very smart and brilliant and I'm still struggling with algebra.
I almost felt like dancing into the classroom when I found out there was no teacher yet.
I quickly moved to sit next to Daphne and today, she's all dressed in black with a touch of pink.
Fashion goals. She looked ravishing.
"Hey bestie!" She giggled and pulled me into a hug from her seat.
I laughed as she withdrew immediately.
"Hi Daph." I grinned dropping my back pack on the table.
"I'm gonna pay during our date, okay?" She offered pointing her fingers.
"I totally accept." I shrugged putting out my books on the desk.
"We will have steak." She announced banging her hands on the table.
I couldn't hold back how happy I was knowing I had someone to talk to. It has always been me and my picky wolf alone in this cold world.
The universe must have pitied me.
Esther, the class president. Sorry, the executive most powerful, almighty class president approached us walking so royally like an Egyptian princess.
Despite her ego, she was a very beautiful human.
"Daphne, you have been elected to give a tour to the new kid in our classroom, she will be replacing Keiran whom dropped out of school today." She told Daphne but I heard her.
A cold chill ran through my body in a flash. My heart was starting to thump.
"What do you mean Keiran dropped out?" I asked overlooking the fact that I might have sounded rude.
Oh heavens...
"You heard me. He will now be taking classes from home and would only show up to write his exams. Everyone has been talking about it since morning. Any who, I have better things to do." Esther said before ambling away.
"Is she some kind of model?" Daphne scoffed shaking her head.
I swallowed hard. Why would Keiran leave school? Am I the reason for that?
I could no longer smile as Daphne mentioned more things she would order during our date. She obviously can't tell how uncertain I feel right now.
I saw Hillary walking out of the classroom, I got up and went after him. For some reason, Daphne got up and followed me too.
