Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

They have been on the trip for some time. Minnesota could barely breathe in the backseat of the car. Her heart stilled hammered inside her ribcage. Fear gripped her insides. This man is a dangerous serial killer, and Minnesota knows it. From what the detectives told her, the Heartless Killer literally rips out the hearts of his victims. One wrong move, and he could be the next one to hang out.

Min tightened his grip on his cellphone. Although he wanted to text the police, he was afraid that the serial killer might notice. It didn't help that it occasionally peeked into the backseat of the car. Min is just thankful that the surroundings are dark so it doesn't face her. He quietly pocketed the phone.

A chill went up her spine when the demon laughed.

"I'll make sure detectives can't find your body, Feralda. You've been cheating on your boyfriend, right? Bitches like you should die." Its tone is full of anger and danger. Minnesota was even more nervous to hear. It looks like he has been spying on his friend for a long time.

'Soon, he'll realize I'm not Feralda.' And when that happened, it would surely kill him. Minnesota took a deep breath and tried to hold back her tears. At least she saved her bestfriend, right? Even if he dies tonight, his sacrifice will not be in vain.

'I hope mama can handle when I'm gone,' Minnesota Gervacio sadly thought. Her chest tightens every time she thinks she will leave her mother. He tried to put it aside first. Bahala na. It looks like Minnesota has really lost nothing in its imminent death.

Death.

But just then, an idea came to her mind. He quietly removed his necklace and hid it inside his palm. If she's going to die, might as well hope that someone would find her body.

"Here we are."

And Minnesota felt the car stop. He nervously listened to the serial killer's gesture, and moments later, it had already opened the backseat door. It pulled him to his feet, and when the light of a nearby pole shone on Minnesota's face, the Heartless Killer stopped.

"Wait, you're not Feralda ... WHERE IS SHE ?!"

Anger flared up on the serial killer's gentle face. Min could almost see the fire of hell in its eyes. Trembling Minnesota replied, "H-I won't let you kill my friend, you heartless bastard!" In an instant, Heartless Killer's hands wrapped around Minnesota's neck. She feels like she is running out of air in her body.

Even before he was dragged to a warehouse, Min quickly dropped his necklace on the side of the road.

"Let's see if you'll be brave now!"

She coughed, and tried to pry his hands off her, but he was too strong. Weakly Min stared at the man's face.

She noticed its concealer on one side of her face. It was faint, but Minnesota can see the wound on his cheek.

'She uses make-up to hide the scar on her face.'

Minnesota heard about this. He heard firsthand from detectives that the serial killer they were pursuing might have had a scratch on the body or face itself. But with a simple trick, the Heartless Killer successfully avoided suspicion.

It pushed him inside the old warehouse. The girl winced in pain.

"Where is he?"

"H-I won't tell you!"

"WHERE'S YOUR POKPOK FRIEND ?! DO NOT FUCKING TEST MY PATIENCE, BITCH, OR ELSE I'LL SKIN YOU ALIVE!" He tightened his grip on Minnesota even more. It's crazy. Weakened and cried, Min shook his head. He could not betray Feralda. Fuck, she wouldn't let his man kill her bestfriend!

The Heartless Killer growled and grabbed her by the hair.

"AAAH! SHIT, T-THAT'S RIGHT!"

Minnesota screamed in pain. She felt her scalp tear from holding it. Moments later, the man took a ducktape and quickly wrapped it around his mouth.

"You still won't tell me where your flirty friend is?"

Minnesota nodded. He was about to run out of energy. She glared at the killer.

The Heartless Killer sighed.

"If I stab you in the thigh, do you know how many hours it will take you before you lose blood in your body? It will be a slow and painless death, bitch. Be thankful." Cassio laughed and dragged Minnesota to a part of the warehouse. Min struggles to tweak it. His fingernails dug into her scalp and she can feel her sweat trickling down the side of her face.

As it dragged him away, Minnesota noticed some belongings in the old warehouse. The dim fluorescent light was barely enough to illuminate the objects. Minnesota's eyes went to the neat set of shoes to one side. He wondered, 'Why do you think his shoes are different sizes?' Next to the shoes, he noticed some hammers filled with dried blood. He didn't want to think about where or to whom they were used.

Heartless Killer equipment is very organized. An obsession for order and killing.

'He's a fucking psycopath!'

Min complained of pain when a protruding nail scratched her leg. The wound was enough to leave a small blood trail behind.

Minnesota tried to fight back but was immediately handcuffed. "This is what carers like you are blessed with! HAHAHAHA!" The barb wire cut through her flesh. Minnesota was crying and screaming in pain. Even his feet were surrounded by barb wire. He was propped up in a corner of the warehouse and in a flash, he felt the squeak of a knife in his thigh.

The man pulled the knife out of her skin and smirked, "Painless. Thank you I don't have time to play with you, hija." He then shoved Min's cellphone into his pocket and threw it on the floor. He wiped the bloody knife and neatly laid it on a table.

The lights went off. Then, the Heartless Killer walked away and slammed the door. Several locks were heard outside.

'I'm fucking trapped.'

Minnesota could barely move his body. The pain surged through her like a shockwave. It was enough to nearly drive her unconscious. He knew that little by little the blood was running out of his body. The bloody wound on her thigh was enough to leave her in a critical situation.

Exsanguination.

If she can't escape, Minnesota was pretty sure that she'll die bleeding in the darkness.

Just then, she spotted something on the floor. Something the man dropped as he bent down to stab her thigh. 'Why is he carrying this?'

When Min looked closely at the object, he realized it was an old picture. It was obviously taken a few years ago. If it fell to the serial killer earlier, it probably has significance to what's happening now.

So even before he lost consciousness, he quickly crawled to the floor to get it. Tears streamed down Min's cheeks as the barb wire sank deeper into his wrist. He took a deep breath and was forced to loosen his grip on it. It was no use.

'If I'm going to die tonight, I'll make sure the authorities will have a suspect.'

So he turned around and looked at the picture. When his still -bound hands reached for it, he carefully placed it in the back pocket of his trousers.

Minnesota took a deep breath as the wound in his thigh healed again.

He faints back to leaning into the corner. Her whole body was numb. He could no longer run away.

She closed her eyes, and awaited her death.
